I found this awhile ago, just now getting around to posting it:
Lessons From the Depression: The Things My Father Told Me...
The TL:DR version:
Always keep a cash account at home.
Store and preserve food.
Grow your own [food].
Be friends with your local farmers.
Be a maker.
In times of trouble, be as generous as you can with your community.
Always offer hope and dignity.
Above all, take care of yourself.
Interesting stuff. Considering working some of it into my life (which is in and of itself a probably a rather sad commentary on my life as-is).
