i was/am sick today...sick enough to stay home, which i haven't done since i was in elementary school...low grade fever, chills, sinus pressure, rattly chest cough, dizzy...probably a sinus problem, no big deal...but i couldn't drive to class while dizzy, now could i...i also had to cancel a voice lesson...i can sing, but i don't want to get the guy sick...general principal and all that...
i should be fine tomorrow, and even if i am not, i don't care...one day indoors is more than enough for me...the television was never very interesting to begin with, so i ended up doing a fair amount of latin homework, which would be fine if my brain didn't currently have to consistency of a sieve...although, in retrospect, the later it gets, the more interesting the television becomes...no joke...
i have a couple of auditions for italian summer programs scheduled...i sent out a cd for another one that canceled its new york audition...shame because i sing much better now then i did at the end of my senior year...
my first is this coming friday at 6:30 at the manhatten school of music, where ever that is, and the second is march 6 at 2:20, at some other place that isn't between my normal trek from the port authority to the metropolitian museum and back...enter the subway...or cab, if i am feeling paranoid...
i need to apply to some more...
tuesday i visited ruins with christina...they were good ruins...i wrote lyrics for a song about them, but i am well aware of the fact i won't do anything with it...thats fine...
i have a decent role in this semester's opera, il giovedi grasso...i play the stupid maid, i.e. the darker soprano...i do patter...that stuff is a fucking bitch...
i am still waiting to hear back from prof. gall re my recital program...i just sort of put it together and put in what was missing over the break, cause i am tired of waiting for him and i wanted it translated by the time i came back from break...but since he hasn't given me an answer, i will just photocopy it and give it to dmitri with a note that says "i have no idea if i am singing it, but here you are just in case"...
i had to buy a digital voice recorder because i am doing five pieces by rachmaniov, and although i can read cyrillic, i can't read it that well, so i need to have a copy of my teacher speaking it...so i brought it along thinking maybe i could get some evps (electronic voice phenomenon) from the ramapo ruins...but it was a distinctly unhaunted place...so i didn't even bother, i just enjoyed the entire semi-bizarreness of it...but man it was cold...i did discover dressing in layers instead of one bulky jacket, is most definatly the way to go for hiking in cold weather...
as per valentine's day, it was as it always is and as it always will be (i'll give the first person who knows where that line is from a hug, after i am done being sick...and no imdb, like i'm gonna know or you are going to participate)....
work is...going...i still need to get bartender training and then work in a bar where i can talk to patrons, because for some reason people have a tendency to tell me things about themselves and their problems that are slightly unwarrented...like the guy who followed me to the burger king began to complain about how good a boyfriend he was...seriously dude, i don't even know you and the intimate details of your life are hardly my concern...but i'll file that talent under wtf? with my uncanny ability to make street lights go out when i pass them...not all...in fact, there are specific ones...probably the same reason my ipods don't last very long, my phones seem to fail, and my computer runs like it is from 1982...
i always seem to be closing on the worst nights...like last night...go buy a packet of trojan, go home, and get the fuck out of my store...seriously, it is ten o'clock and you need to leave...now...and of course, last night i was sick...the beginning of today's good time, including the dizziness, which i can tell you made working a whole lot more fun...i actually had to ask for more hours, but for some reason i seem to be stopping at the gas station more often (i think i am sitting in more traffic than last semester) and i bought a $104 dollar digital voice recorder...because i am sick of the fucking tapes and i actually needed a built in microphone so i didn't have to buy one (ha ha! i am on to you)...
but i got my taxes done, so that is a good thing...
next episode: how i beat the zombie apocalypse with only the pointy stick in my trunk and my knowledge of useless stuff (including joseph campbell, albert camus, and h.p. lovecraft)...
