On tonight's Gilmore Girls: ack! ack! and ack again! *points and oggles at screen*

It is a sad fact that tonight, after three weeks, I actually managed to be home in time to watch an 8pm tv show. I wish I could say that was because I was out on our wild social scene (well...no I don't, but in /theory/ ^^;;). Alas, it's because I've been working. And when I haven't been working, I've been signing. Becaaaaauuuuuseee....

*grins*

Mom and I are buying a house!

A house? A house! Mom and I are buying a house!

And for those who haven't been with me myself and I that long, the reasons mom and I are buying a house together are numerous. The first, and most important, is that I cannot afford a house on my own. I cannot afford a shack on my own. I cannot afford a hole in the ground in the woods on my own. I cannot afford a -- well, you get the idea. I wrestled with this, tangoed with this, pleaded and baked it cookies, but the sad and sorry truth is that having a roof over your head costs a disgusting amount of money. Money that I unfortunately cannot lay claim to.

The second reason mom and I are getting a house together is because dad has finally agreed to the divorce (and hallelulah!). Together we can do much better than we would apart. It's not like I wouldn't love to be on my own, but the practical side of me knows that this is really the best -- hell, the only -- route to take. And that may be messed up, but it works for us :).

Anyway, enough of my babble! The house is a 62 year old cape code style home. It has four bedrooms, two full baths, a fireplace, hardwood floors under all of the carpets, the original doorknobs and hardware (cool keys that still work!), a new roof, central air, and a new oil heater. They set the upstairs up as an inlaw suite, so there's a second kitchen (T___T) upstairs through the master bedroom. So I will finally get an art room of my very own-ned! It is very, very squee. Cons are that it's on a very major road (but set back, with trees in front to buffer), the basement has water seepage issues, and it's on well water (which will hopefully test ok, as I'm rather nervous about it).

So...here we are. Soon-to-hopefully-maybe-be-homeowners.

Wow.
