I have been accepted as a teaching assistant for conversational English at a university in Rennes. Yay!
I will be leaving in October and hopefully not coming back. But if I do return it will be in March. I have found several ways to finish my degree and still stay in France, and my former voice teacher has someone from the area that she is trying to put me in touch with.
Unfortunately, Jared, who was not thrilled with the idea of my going to France for six months, is a great deal less happy with forever. He doesn't want to go to France, because he doesn't speak French, a perfectly understandable sentiment. However, he does not seem to want to go anywhere. Period. A month ago, he thought maybe Colorado would be ok, but I will never convince him to live outside the US, and I would not want him to move for me. Definite compatibility issue.
So, I am trying to decide if it would be more fair to stay together and enjoy each others' company until I go, or to break it off now that I have come to the realization that it can't work.
