help_haiti lightning round fic for trascendenza

I'm actually quite nervous about posting this. The request I got was for either Kira/Ziyal or warm gen featuring the two. What resulted was semidark introspection from Ziyal's POV, though there's definitely some warm fuzziness in there, as well as Ziyal/Kira. This was written for trascendenza via the lightning round at help_haiti. I really, really hope it works

Oh, wow. Thank you so much for this! What an amazing character study. I love how much you capture the difficulty of being a child of two worlds at odds with each other, of having a genetic history that's impossible to escape and just as impossible to ignore.

These lines particularly struck me:

Ziyal knows nearly everyone brands her something evil, something traitorous, something tainted and fluctuating between poor unfortunate and blood collaborator, the instant they see her.

The overseer, the talent, and the truth.

And the image of Kira as the star Ziyal sets her course by, wow, that's so gorgeous and I think it's really descriptive of their relationship. Again, thank you so much for this! ♥

*beams all over lj* You're welcome! I'm so, so glad you liked it; I was terribly nervous that you wouldn't. It's been a little too long since I've seen DS9 (must remedy that, like yesterday) so I was a touch worried I'd somehow ignored an important piece of canon regarding Ziyal, or something. Whew!
