I have had... *counts in head* TEN job interviews in the past two weeks.
Montanas, Nine West, Party Mart, Montana's again, OK Kids, Shamrock Worldwide, Conception Marketing, All-In Marketing, Shamrock again, Conception Marketing again...
Shamrock is a horrible company, with an emphasis on SHAM. They had me travel all the way out to this horrible little building in industrial area Etobicoke. (Ran into Boady Barrington in the lobby there though!) Then on my second interview they tried to convince me that "marketing" is selling dollar-store crap made in China by driving out into industrial areas in Richmond Hill, York, Vaughan and Maple and selling door-to-door. The second "interview" consisted of making me work a full day unpaid, and shipping me off to said areas, far and away from public transit, and in a car full of creepy men in their late thirties, who kept trying to "hug" me when they got a sale. Was so creepy I nearly called Roman to pick me in his parent's car up while in Richmond Hill. Would have been awkward conversation.
"Hi Roman, know you sacked me but am stranded in industrial Richmond Hill. Please save me with your G2 possessing skills!"
Did manage to save myself though, like any single girl will do when faced with crappy career, a car full of pervs, and the threat of being paid only through commission. When it started to rain, I suggested to go try and sell at a covered plaza around my Nonna's place. Once the group dispersed, I told the guy who was training me that I would not be staying from 9-6 like they had wanted, that I was leaving and saving both of us time and effort. Went over to my Nonna's house in the rain and had a giant dinner of pasta instead of trying to sell lawn chairs, flash lights and touch-screen phones.
I have commuted to FIVE different cities for these stupid jobs in crappy weather, and finally one paid off. Finally, I have got a job at Nine West... nice shoes that I'd never wear, because although they are pretty, most are sadistic in heel size and price. However, with the 70% employee discount, and the fact I MUST wear the product, I'll be getting a bunch of 'em. This does not end my job search. Although it's base plus commission, $7.75 is not going to get me to Europe. So I still have job interviews as CIBC, F.G. Bradley, and Carlton Cards...
Also, Vanessa went and became legal this weekend. After doing much of the planning (as Vanessa's plan was "I wanna get drunk") we went downtown to get rush tickets for the LotR musical. The last tickets were eighty buckaroos, and as Kyle and I had already seen it, we walked through the entertainment district, from King and University to Bay and Bloor and finally decided to pay the $65 to see the Blue Man Group (again). Seemed a better bet than watching all-nude cast of HAIR. After BMG, had enough time to WALK back to Royal Alex and waited another FORTY minutes for Vanessa and Nicole to leave the theatre. Had enough time to take the girls for drinks and cheesecake at Futures. Was cute when they thought they were drunk after only TWO, highly fruity and barely alcoholic drinks. Walked halfway to the Silver Dollar to meet up with darling Jenny and her boy, but had but twenty minutes to get back to Union and on the last bus to Streetsville.
Still pissed at LotR for being so freaking long! My husband has still yet to meet my wife. Have become determined to have a shindig at my place and put them in the same room together. As I am convinced now that they are the same person, and this is why I can't seem to get them together. They are like Pokaroo... I never got that the guy host was Pokaroo, and he "missed him" was because he WAS Pokaroo.
I realize how freakishly long this update has become... and thus I will close with this: Am still single, am down to last pint of Caramel Cone Explosion, Currently have Career in heels, and my best friends are both respectively a giant green fabric dinosaur.
