On Sunday, I was watching Monique's kid's and picked up strepthroat from David. David never showed symptoms because he was on antibiotics before he was symptomatic. It takes a couple of says for it to really kick in, so I didn't realize I was that sick.
Monday I had my wisdom teeth pulled. I was also prescribed a very large dose of vicodin and was knocked out the for the procedure. That latter messed with my immune system, making the strepthroat worse. As a result of my immune system being thrown out of whack, I had a reaction to the vicoden and threw up. I assumed this was the anaesthetic.
Tuesday I go to work. Sort of. I show up and almost immediately start throwing up. It's not too bad, but I am actively throwing up, so I ask my sister to come pick me up as I cannot drive as a result of the vicoden.
After going to Monique's house, I feel sicker. There is a funny smell coming out of my mouth and I can't hold water down. This is fine, since I have no appetite. After throwing up just bile for nearly two hours, I ask my sister to take me to the hospital. So she does. I throw up three more times before a doctor sees me.
Now, let's put it this way: I can't swallow because my throat is swollen. I can't chew because of my teeth. I can't keep anything anything down. I am in a lot of pain, and my face is swollen.
The doctor sees me and I describe my symptoms. I am also running a fever at this point.
To recap, my immune system is compromised because of my wisdom teeth. I have strep throat (he smelled my breath and ran a culture as a formality). Since my immune system is compromised, I am running a fever and knocked on my add by the vicoden. Vicodin?
Anyway, I was told to get three days of bedrest. I should be ok this weekend, and I feel better than yesterday (although I cannot take anything stronger than Tylenol for my wisdom teeth, and that sucks) and the strep is going away now that I have had some antibiotics.
I can honestly say I have never been as sick as I was yesterday. I could handle getting my teeth pulled, I could handle strep, I could handle being sick with a fever, but I have all three at once. I honestly-- honestly, truly, sincerely-- thought I was going to die. There is no reason anyone should be in that much pain. I was throwing up so hard that I couldn't breathe. Now, the antiobiotic has kicked in and I haven't thrown up all day. My teeth hurt like a bitch, but it's not like I can take anything other than Tyelenol for it. And my fever has subsided, for now. The worst part is I will probably never be able to take vicodin again because I got so violently ill. Damn it, I loved that stuff!
