I took Caijsa to go see
BLOC PARTY. last night @ the Tabernacle. I got into them really late. I actually had their album on my external hard drive since June but I didn't add it to my iTunes library until Sept. Thanks to
abovethewaves for turning me onto their music. So I've had the cd in my rotation for less than a month but I've listened to Silent Alarm front to back a jabillion times. This is saying alot because Minstrel Show and Late Registration both came out during this time period. They've gotten their fair share of spins but they've collected dust as far as car music goes. I'm not going to act like I'm a expert on Bloc Party or their kind of music so I'll speak like the noob I am. I'm a music junkie but I don't usually get into indie rock. I guess that's the genre that best describes them, maybe Brit-Rock if there is such a thing. I love their music, it's hard to pin pt. what exactly draws me to them. Shit, go
here for a interview w/ the band and
here for a review of their debut lp . They're the professionals. I just like the way their music comes out, they all sound stellar live too. Great to sing along w/ and jam to. The lead singer didn't sound nearly as polished or good live as he does on the albums but it really didn't matter. He was cheesing the whole damn time and he was so into the music, crazy mannerisms and such. I could hardly make out anything they were saying in between songs. Damn accents. I left after the 2nd song during the 2nd encore. Had to make sure I got to work on time. They basically did every song in their catalog, guess it's not that difficult since they're a newer band. It was a nice experience, I usually go to hip-hop shows, white people get crazy during indie rock shows, lmao. I'm really glad I was able to go to to the show, it was kind of a last minute thing. After I missed M.I.A. in Athens I didn't wanna miss another chance to see a artist I liked alot. Weird though, this show came @ the perfect time in my discovery of the group. Alright gotta get back to work, tonight is Little Brother @ Apache Cafe, w00t!!!
p.s. is the Tabernacle not the best venue in Atlanta? Place owns...
