Changmin opened his eyes slowly then squinted when he couldn’t take the glare of the lights. When his eyes had adjusted to the light and he was able to fully open his eyes, he scanned the room he was in. The ceiling was white and so were the walls.
Where am I? He asked himself. Seiren. He found her asleep, her head resting on his bed.
“Changmin!” Hanabusa exclaimed. “You’re finally awake. We were so worried.”
Changmin wasn’t paying any attention to his friend, his gaze on Seiren.

Seiren woke to the sound of many voices around her. She opened her eyes slowly and saw that Changmin’s family and friends were all smiling and talking at once excitedly. She could also hear the doctor talking. It took a while for the implication of what she was seeing to sink into her still sleep-drugged mind, but it all sunk in when she felt familiar fingers lazily drawing circles on her arm.
The movement stilled when he felt her tense. Changmin glanced at Seiren but he couldn’t make out her expression since she was still lying down and all he could see was her head. All the same, he knew she was awake.
WhatdoIdoWhatdoIdoWhatdoIdo? I don’t think I’m ready for this yet. Seiren thought.
“Sei?” Changmin called softly when it seemed like she had stopped breathing.
Seiren slowly lifted her head and faced him. “You’re finally awake.” She whispered with tears in her eyes.
“Yeah, I am.” Changmin said smiling.
When the others in the room noticed that Changmin and Seiren were in their own world, they slowly went out.
“How are you feeling?” Seiren asked.
“Sore, heavy, but still alive.” Changmin answered, smiling.
“Yes…” She said, sniffing as her tears threatened to drop. “Yes, your very much alive.” She leaned down and kissed him on the forehead before giving him a hug and whispering, “I intend to keep it that way.” She sat up, looked into his eyes and said, “Goodbye Min, be happy, stay healthy, and most of all, be safe.”
Changmin just lay there in stunned silence. He hadn’t expected her to leave him after he just woke up from a coma.
“Wait.” Changmin said when he noticed she was already at the door. She turned to him but kept her hand on the doorknob. “You’re going to leave me? Just like that?”
“Yes Min. You’re very lucky you survived, I’m not going to jeopardize your life ever again.” She said with a bitter smile.
“So you’re blaming yourself for my accident?”
“Well, of course. Maybe if I wasn’t such a punctual freak, you wouldn’t have driven so fast. You would have been safe.”
“It’s not your fault okay? Stop blaming yourself.”
“Maybe it is and maybe it’s not, but I’m not taking any more chances Min. Goodbye.”
Before Changmin could answer, she was already outside the room.

It had been two days since he woke up from his three day coma. He still had a hard time accepting the fact that Seiren left him because she believed she was the cause of not only his accident but also the deaths of her former boyfriends.
Changmin looked at the ring in his hand, the ring he’d bought on that day. He’d intended to propose to her after the party, and he would have if he hadn’t driven so recklessly to get to her. Hanabusa had related to him Seiren’s reaction upon seeing the ring.
“This was in his pocket.” The nurse said, handing Seiren a ring box which contained a beautiful ring made of white gold, it had nine stones of the same size in total with an amethyst in the middle and four diamonds and four aquamarines surrounding it. She shoved the box to Hanabusa and walked briskly to a bench far away from them where she sat and cried silently. But it was clear from her body language exactly how tormented she felt.
Hanabusa went on to explain that her reaction was due to the fact that Donghae, her last boyfriend also had an engagement ring on him when he died. When he asked whether Seiren was fine, his friend just said he wasn’t so sure because she filed for a vacation leave on the day she left the hospital. Nobody knew where she was, though Changmin had a good idea where she might be.
