A/N: Hey guys, sorry for the lousy summary again, couldn't think of anything better. I hope you'll like the story though. This is for my cousin raindrop_symph. Happy Birthday! Though your birthday is still tomorrow, I just couldn't wait to post it when I finished with it.^^

The eve of the Fire festival-which only happened once in every decade- was approaching, wherein the faeries of Enchantrix celebrated the wonders of the Fire element. Rehearsals were underway as most of the fire faeries practiced their magic for the show in the festival. There were those who created art out of their flames, some who showed how to best fight using it, but the main attraction was the Fire Dance. Fire dancers would wow the crowd in their exhibit of power and grace in the use of their element.
“So, Kaoru. Whatcha gonna do for the festival?” Utami asked.
                “Nothing.” She replied.
“As usual?” Misaki asked sarcastically. She sighed when Kaoru just nodded, her eyes fixed on a group of faeries preparing their pois. She’d always been fascinated by the way the fire dancers swung their pois, lit with their flames, in time with the music. She’d wanted to try it ever since but was too afraid to do so, afraid she might make a klutz of herself.
The dancers started practicing, each taking turns in the middle before a pair from the lot did a couple dance. She was so engrossed in watching that her friends had to shout her name right in her ear to get her attention.
                “Kaoru!”
“Ah!” She cried out in surprise.
“Seriously, if you want to dance that much you could have asked to be included.” Rui said.
Her husband Nino chuckled while rubbing her back soothingly, “Calm down dear.”
                “Hai hai.” She answered sighing.
“Okay guys break it up, time to eat. And stop picking on Kaoru.” Misaki said, she and her husband Jaejoong had just finished setting up a picnic for them to enjoy.
“Haiiiii.” Kaoru said, smiling widely as she got up to join Misaki.
“Don’t we have any ice?” Yunho asked, holding a glass of lukewarm orange juice.
“Ugh. Forgot to bring some.” Jaejoong groaned.
“No need to worry.” Someone behind them said, before all the drinks they had got deliciously chilled.
“Chiharu! Changmin!” All exclaimed. All the girls ran to them as they each carried a tiny bundle in their arms.
“You already got released from the hospital?” Utami asked.
Chiharu nodded. “I wasn’t about to miss the Fire Festival and Kaoru’s birthday.”
“Ah sou. The only unmarried one is about to get tied.” Utami said.
“You make it sound like it’s a bad thing I’m the only one unmarried.” Kaoru said.
“Iie, we’re just excited for you too.” Chiharu said.
“Yeah, especially since you’re birthday and the fire festival is on the same day.” Misaki said.

“She’s here again.” Yoochun, a fire dancer told his friend Junsu.
                “Who?” Junsu asked.
“That girl.” Yoochun answered, referring to Kaou who was sitting on a bench not far from where they were practicing. “She comes here everyday and just watches us.”
“Maybe she’s interested in the dance. Anyway, time to practice.”
Their movements are so powerful and graceful. Sigh. I wish I could move like that. Kaoru thought as she watched them practice again.
-o0o-
Am I too early? I’m sure they practice at this time. Kaoru thought as she sat in her favorite bench in the park, the one with a clear view of where the fire dancers rehearsed.
“We don’t have practice today.” A male voice said beside her.
She looked up to find one of the dancers staring at her. “Oh.”
“I’m Junsu by the way. Kim Junsu. I just noticed that…well my friend Yoochun noticed that you always watch us rehearse, everyday. Are you stalking someone in our group or are you just interested in the dance.”
“Just the dance.” Her eyes twinkled as she visualized what she’d so far seen in their rehearsals. “I love the way you guys move, so powerful and yet graceful. I especially love it when you light your pois.”
                “You wanna try it out?”
“Oh, I’d love to, but I don’t know how.”
                “I’ll teach you.”
                “Hontou?”
“Uhuh. It was a good thing I bought my pois with me. Come on.”
Junsu led her to a more open space, big enough so they wouldn’t hit anything with the pois. He taught her all afternoon. First he taught her how to swing the pois right so you wouldn’t hit yourself with it. When she hit herself for the fifth time, he sighed and positioned himself behind her, taking her hands in his and moving them along.
“You think he’s her betrothed?” Misaki whispered to Utami.
“Could be. I mean we met our betrotheds days before our birthday, could be the same for her.” Utami answered.
“Maybe. Does anyone have an idea what our present should be?” Rui asked.
“When did you get here?” Misaki and Utami asked in unison.
“I have an idea.” Chiharu answered.
Misaki and Utami looked in surprise at Chiharu as well before Rui replied, “About the same time as Haru.”

“Junsu-ah. Do you really have to go to the festival tonight?” Junsu’s mother asked.
“Yes mom. You know I have a role to play in it.”
“But, you’re betrothed’s birthday is today. Aren’t you excited to finally meet her?”
Junsu pondered on that question, images of him teaching Kaoru how to dance with and without the pois coming to mind. He wouldn’t mind being late in meeting his betrothed. He wanted to atleast spend a little more time with Kaoru before he got tied for life.
Funny, he’d only known Kaoru for a few days yet it seemed like such a long time has already passed. He’d bonded to her from the first moment he touched her when she’d hit herself for the fifth time with the poi when he first taught her.
                “Su-ah.”
“Can’t we go to their house after the festival?”
“No need for that.” His father said. “Her father just called to say that they’ll meet us at the festival so we can all enjoy it.”
“That was smart of him.” Junho his twin commented.

Fujimoto residence…
“Kaoru, are you ready yet?” Her mother called.
“Almost mom.” She replied. She inspected herself again on the full-length mirror.
She was wearing a knee-length dress the color of autumn leaves, that beautiful mix of brown, orange and gold. It complimented the color of her ember eyes perfectly. Her mother had curled her hair, giving her an earthier look.
She took a deep breath and prepared herself. This is it. Happy Birthday Kaoru. She was a bit disappointed her friends weren’t with her. On the others birthday, they were always at the celebrant’s home giving encouragement. Where are they now that it’s my birthday? She thought disappointed. She thought of Junsu and smiled. Atleast I get to see him for the last time before I get married.
“I wish he was my betrothed.” She said to herself.
“Kaoru, let’s go.” Her mother called again.
                “Coming mom.”

At the festival…
“Pssst, over here. Haru-chan!” Rui called, waving Chiharu over.
“What’s all the excitement about?” Changmin asked.
                “You’ll see.” Chiharu replied.
They walked over to where Rui, Misaki, Utami, and their husbands were.
“Do you know that we are just lucky Kaoru’s not here yet?” Utami asked.
“Yeah yeah. Nino-kun.” Chiharu said facing Rui’s husband, Nino.
                “Yeah?” He asked.
“Here, hold Haruka for me.” She ordered, handing her son to him.
“Eh?!” He said, bewildered when Haruka was in his arms.
“You need to get used to holding a baby, after all you have one on the way right? Besides I trust you to take care of him for a little while.”
Nino nodded, cradling the baby protectively.
“Okay. Let’s start.” Misaki said, as the four girls formed a circle.
Misaki waved her hand emitting green light all around her. Several vines crept up to her arms, they formed into a small ball that fit perfectly in her hands where she made them more elastic and durable before extending them to their full length again. They twined themselves and stayed in midair as Rui waved her hands and created a ball of air which attached itself to one end of the twined vines. Then Chiharu and Utami placed tiny balls of their magic into the ball of air and they were done.
                “Perfect.” Chiharu said.

“Kaoru-chan!!!” Misaki shouted as she spotted Kaoru flying with her family where the fire dancers were getting ready to perform.
“Oh, minna. Where have you guys been? You didn’t go to my house this afternoon.” Kaoru said, pouting.
“Hehe. Something came up. Sorry. Anyway, Happy Birthday Kaoru-chan.” Misaki said.
“Happy Birthday!” Her other friends greeted as well, giving her a hug.
Kaoru was about to say something else when music filled the air as the fire dancers began their performance. Each dancer lit their pois one by one; each had a different color. As their danced in the ground and in the air, it seemed like the colors of the rainbow were dancing in front of everyone. They ended by clashing their pois together, fireworks erupting to the sky in a rain of different colors making everyone applaud and cheer.
“That was awesome.” Yunho said. “Maybe I should learn that.”
“Don’t bother. You might end up burning yourself.” Utami, Yunho’s wife, said automatically.
                “Jagiyaaaa~”
“Just stick with your style of dance please so I don’t have to worry if my husband has lit himself aflame.”
                “Hai..”
Everyone laughed at Yunho’s expression. Misaki flew to Kaoru’s parents and asked permission to kidnap her for a while.
“Come on.” Misaki said, pulling Kaoru with her to a less crowded part of the park. They landed down as Rui presented Kaoru with their gift.
“A poi?” Karou asked. Not just any ordinary poi. She thought, eyeing the ball of air and the swirl of magic dust inside it.
“Yup, we knew you were taking lessons of it and decided to give you something to work with so you wouldn’t always have to borrow someone else’s when you dance.” Chiharu said.
                “Try it out Kaoru.”
So Kaoru did, lighting the balls. She began dancing to the tune in her head. As she closed her eyes and let the emotions she felt guide her in her dance, the ball grew brighter, not only with her flames but with something else. As she turned, big snowflakes erupted from her poi. Each one reflecting different colors, and they swirled around her in time with her dance, creating a beautiful scenery for everyone. Her eyes sparkled in happiness and awe at the gift her friends had given her; it was no ordinary poi alright, but something much more magical.
Junsu had flown near his parents as it was time to meet his betrothed; he turned just in time to see snowflakes erupt from somewhere. Out of curiosity, he and his parents went to the source of the snowflakes. His eyes widened when he saw they were coming from the poi Kaoru was using as she danced, her eyes closed. As she came to an end and swung her pois for the last time, white flames engulfed the snow flakes and made them erupt in a shower of tiny crystals.
Kaoru was startled to hear the applause and seeing the crowd around her as she landed, her dance finished.
“That was beautiful darling. Whoever taught you to dance like that?” Kaoru’s mother said as she hugged her.
                “Someone. A friend.”
                “You like it?” Rui asked.
“I love it. Thanks guys.” She said, her heart overflowing with happiness.
“It’s time.” Kaoru’s father said as he took Kaoru’s hand in his and led her to four people who were seven feet away from them.
Why is she and her family heading this way?  Junsu thought. No way! Nah. She can’t be. Is she?
                “Kim.”
                “Fujimoto.”
The fathers exchanged greetings before motioning for their families.
                “My daughter, Fujimoto Kaoru.”
“Konbanwa. Fujimoto Kaoru desu, yoroshiku onegai-shimasu.” She introduced herself, bowing respectfully.
“My son…” Kaoru’s eyes widened when she recognized Junsu as he stepped out of the shadows that were covering him. “Kim Junsu.”
“Konbanwa. Kim Junsu desu, yoroshiku onegai-shimasu.” He introduced himself, bowing respectfully as well. He gave her a wide gentle smile as he straightened.
Kaoru smiled at him as she felt the wind blowing in her hair, happy that the wish she had said out loud came true.
