Stay

Something was wrong. Something was terribly wrong.

Changmin read the tear-stained note in his hand for the third time.

‘I’m sorry Min. This might be goodbye and yet it might not be. I’ve got issues, you know that, and it’s hurting our relationship. I love you very much and you deserve better. I want our relationship to work, and I believe to do that I need to get over my issues first. I don’t know how long it will take me and you don’t have to wait for me if you find someone better.

Again, I LOVE YOU VERY MUCH AND I WANT YOU TO BE HAPPY. Until we meet again.

Chiharu ‘

Changmin swallowed as pain spread in his chest, clenching his heart painfully. He ran into their bedroom, freezing in the middle of it when he saw that only his stuff was on their dresser. He looked at the bed; her favorite stuff toy was gone. He looked in their closet, kitchen, and living room, and found everything that might represent her was gone.

He sank down on their couch, trying to understand, to remember what could have made her go.

~ FLASHBACK ~

“Do you have any idea how worried I’ve been?!” Changmin shouted angrily.

“No, I have no idea because I’m not you.” Chiharu shouted angrily as well.

“You could have at least sent me a message about where you guys went instead if you couldn’t call me.”

“Aish! Alright already. I was wrong. I’m sorry. Can I go to sleep now?! I’m tired.”

~ END OF FLASHBACK ~

Changmin groaned at the memory as he remembered as well that Chiharu hated the feeling of being monitored, as that was what it seemed like because of the way he had talked to her. He shouldn’t have shouted, but he was already strung up tight with worry at the time.

He sighed. He wanted to find her, to go after her, but he knew he’d never be able to find her if she didn’t want to be found.

His mobile phone beeped. It was a message from Yoochun.

=Chiharu’s at the airport. AND YOU DID NOT HEAR THAT FROM ME. GOT IT?!=

Changmin smiled as he got up and ran down to get in his car. He was going to thank Yoochun for the tip when things between him and Chiharu were okay again.

He sped to the airport; thanking God that traffic was light.

Meanwhile, at the airport Chiharu was on her way to board her flight back to Japan. She wanted to go home to try and get over her past.

“Haru!” Someone shouted.

She froze in her steps as Changmin’s voice registered in her mind.

“No…No no no no no no no no…” She mumbled to herself as she resumed walking, faster this time.

Before she could take more than seven steps, Changmin had caught her arm.

“Wait.” He said panting.

Chiharu really had no choice since he had a firm grip on her arm, but she wouldn’t look at him.

Changmin noticed that she still wouldn’t look at him. So, he pulled her, turned her around in his arms and kissed her. It was a kiss full of tenderness and love and it made her cry.

As he broke the kiss, he stared at her and wiped the tears from her eyes.

“Why did you have to come after me?” She asked, sobbing.

“Why didn’t you even say a proper goodbye?” He asked back instead of answering.

She opened her eyes and looked at her feet before answering, “Because I wouldn’t be able to walk away from you if I did.”

Changmin sighed as he stared at her tenderly and pulled her into his arms, hugging her gently.

“Stay.” He whispered. “We’ll solve your past issues together. You don’t have to do it alone. Don’t go. Please stay.”

Chiharu sniffed and nodded. It was the first time someone stuck by her side even after experiencing what she was like at her worst. How could she say no to that?
