Wednesday night: Pool!

It was a fun night even though I had myself all wound up early on because I was walking and thought I was going to be late.

For those who don't know. About 4 months ago or more I joined the A.P.A or Amateur Pool Association a bar league for people who are either very competitive or people like me who are just looking to get out more and have some fun. I won't go into all of the details or this will be a long and jumbled post. I will say however that you pay when you play, $9 (+ quarters for the table) and you don't just play 1 game against your opponent for the night its a race to a certain number of games won to win the match. I played an older gentleman who was obviously more skilled than I but was able to make it a very close and interesting match.

It came down to whoever won the last game took the match and although it did come down to only the 8 ball on the table a loss no matter how close is still a loss. It was a damn good time though. I shot very well for me, which in all honesty isn't saying too much. I still have a lot to learn but my teammates have been extremely nice and helpful too, a great group of guys and girls.

I had to take a bus to get close to the bar we were playing at. Actually I could have taken the bus to right across the street from the bar but I Fucked up. I got on the wrong transfer bus it was quite simple after a hard days work and already having spent a good amount of time on a bus already (lots of busing wednesday) I was fairly tired. I don't know why but I followed a bunch of guys onto the wrong transfer bus, I must have just gone into follow mode even though I heard them talking about where they were going earlier and knew it was not where I wanted to go. So I get on the wrong bus, realize my folly early on thankfully get off and walk back in the right direction. Walk about halfway to where I need to go when the 2-way on my nextel goes off. Someone was driving by the area I was walking and would pick me up. Great news although at that point I had been on my feet at work for 8 hours then sitting on my ass on a bus and for the last 45 minutes or so not just walking but power-walking. My legs were aching when I sat down at the rendezvous spot.

Most of my walk that evening was spent cursing at myself for my stupidity but it all worked out in the end. I never would have imagined that what seemed to be a catastrophe as i started walking would turn out to be a fun and uplifting night.
