There was nothing more heart breaking than the looks in his parents and girlfriends eyes as he pulled his back pack up and over his shoulder. It was that look of, ‘be safe, owl every day, remember we love you, apparate home if anything bad happens and remember we are here for you and will miss you dearly’. Teddy was a little sad in himself, he’d spent the day before with his Godfather and their families, the day before that with Ron and Hermione and their children and this day had been spent with his parents and girlfriend. Pretty little Weasley he loved with every beat of his heart.
She always asked him why her, he could have any girl in school, anyone he wanted and he had chosen her, each and every time she asked he answered with the same thing. “To me you are perfect.”
And that’s what she was, that is what his family was, all of them, the whole Weasley, Potter, Lupin, Tonks clan. They were perfect. Reaching up he stroked the tears from his mother’s cheeks and smiled at her, “I know, I remember everything you said and I love you too. I promise that I’ll bring you something from every place we visit and dad,” he moved to his father and gave him a huge hug. “Dad, I’ll bring you back a bar of chocolate from every country we visit.”
Finally it was his turn to say goodbye to Victoire, “I’ll miss you most of all,” he said softly as he reached out and stroked her cheek, “I’ll miss your smile, the sound of your voice, the way you curl up in my arms so I can just hold you. There are so many things that I am going to miss about not being able to see you every day.” Unashamed he leaned in and pressed his lips softly to hers, pulling her closer and deepening the kiss. Teddy couldn’t help but smile against her lips as she made that soft whimpering sound, one that always made him shiver and his skin prickle over. “I’ll owl every day,” he whispered in her ear, “And remember what we said, look up at the stars at 10 every night and I’ll do the same. Our star, look at that and I’ll blow you a kiss.” Yes, he was very romantic, more so with her than he had been with anyone before.
Teddy kissed her once more and held her close, trying to comfort her as the tears she was shedding fell damp against his neck. “I love you,” he whispered, “And the time I’m gone will fly because you’ll be busy with school… this isn’t goodbye,” he said softly, “At least not for more than a few months. I’ll be back for Christmas and we can spend all our time together then and when you finish next year we’ll go on that trip we planned.”
Watching her nod he smiled and looked to his parents giving them both a hug before kissing his girl once more. “I love you all and please, all of you,” his eyes were fixed upon his parents more than anyone else, “Stay out of trouble.” Another final kiss to Victoire before he picked up his broom and headed off, he soon become nothing but a dot in the distance.
Teddy had to remember his own words; this isn’t goodbye, at least not for more than a few months.”
