Not that Envy has any true ties to family, like hardly any of them do, but it just means Envy tolerates and cooperates more with one of their own. Also has more information about how Discedo works... Something Envy can't overlook.

The brat is one out of five human sacrifices that Father needs. So this means Envy can't kill Shorty. Pretty much that sums up Edward's worth as well. That doesn't mean that Envy can't piss him off or tease the living hell out of this Elric. And that is a pastime that Envy so enjoys. Other than that? Envy doesn't dislike or like THIS Elric. Recently Envy is getting a sneaking suspicion that Edward knows something. What? Envy will just have to find a way to find that out on its own.
