I’ve heard things said about you,
things you probably don’t want others to hear.
But I’ve heard them all the same.
Do you know what you say
when you tell things to people?
Do you simply speak
or do you have a conversation?
Do you ever ask yourself
who you are?

What do you think
when people tell things to you?
Do you try to understand where they come from
or do you hear their words without listening?
Water flows down from the hillside.
Do you hear it?
Through the ground and around the rocky shores.
Do you understand it?

Can you understand me
with your philosophical presuppositions
clouding your judgment?
Can you look beyond your tinted glasses
to see things from perceptive perspectives
that do not conform to your own?
Do you even try?

Oh, how I wish you would try.
Please. . . .
