it's been a crazy couple of weeks. i had three big mean ugly term papers, the last of which was a tough 16 pager. i've been spending up to 8 hours a day this week in the library working on it, and it's been so terribly depressing. i finally finished it today and handed in to my professor when i attended her end-of-semester party for our class (which was a pretty small seminar) at her house. i haven't ever been to a professor's house for a party before, and it was honestly the most fun i've had in a while -- the people in my seminar are great, my prof is a lovely, lovely woman and her three year old daughter is the sweetest thing ever. she really put on a show for us - lots of running in circles and dancing and lying on the floor reciting our names but adding "poo" to the end of all of them. i totally remember being that cute little kid underfoot when my dad had grad students over -- peeking at them and hoping they'd notice me and observe just how damn cute and entertaining i was. being a student in this city is so strange because almost everyone i interact with is between the ages of 18 and 24, with the exception of the odd professor. i never get to hang out with little people during the school year, and i really miss it. i spent a while sitting with this little girl on her bed, reading her stories and getting her to turn the pages and point out things from the text in the pictures on the page, and discussing the private lives of her stuffed toys. it was great. although of course, she wouldn't let me convince her to go to bed -- she had to have her mummy in to read her a story before she'd do that. in between playing with the cutest child ever and drinking a fair amount of wine and yummy punch, i barely noticed when the clock struck twelve and ushered in my 22nd year. that's right folks, i am now a twenty-something. cheers.
tomorrow (well technically today, but after sleep -- saturday) is my real birthday bash -- i'm having some friends over to make pizza and eat cake and watch movies and drink. nothing big, but it will be nice. i'll post a picture of the cake, and i promise you'll be impressed by its bunnyness. tomorrow will be a day of baking and starting to study for my econ final, because i'm not out of school-hell yet.
love
a very contented and tipsy
