Today was super easy. The kids were great. Mostly. 1st period I had a couple who wanted to have a race in the classroom to see who was the fastest, and almost no one turned in the work, and those that did mostly had played tic tac toe or drawn all over it. I think one finished and one or two did a few problems. 2nd period was better, 3rd and 4th were amazing, conference period 5th so I just went out and bought a soda and some Hostess cupcakes, 6th just wanted to hang out and because they were pretty quiet, it was a small class, and they were nice I let them. They still did their work even when socializing.
I was at Oakland High and I kept glancing into Grimshaw's classroom to see if I could spot any of my special ed. students. I guess they got moved to another classroom and the sign on the door said "Mr. Bright."
No job for tomorrow yet, but I'm hopeful. If I don't have anything by tomorrow morning I'm catching an early train back and spending part of the day scouting coffee shops where I can have my Fiction/Non-Fiction group. I want to use
this for the facebook event, but I'm worried no one else will get my humor.
Tomorrow: Tilden Elementary, an all special ed. school.
