I made it to Oakland, after much trial and tribulation. I came back for the weekend to drop off my dad's truck and to take care of my parents' cat while they're in Croatia. On the drive here the truck stopped accelerating and the speed started to drop. I managed to get it to the end of an off ramp in Pinole as soon as I noticed something was up. The radiator cap had blown off and I had to call a tow truck. $10/mile + $55 service charge + $75 for the dolly the truck had to go on = I'm out $320, which was almost the entirety of my paycheck I deposited today from my work in Oakland. The truck will need a new radiator.
So I found out that I'm the only non-professional supervisor for my boyfriend's mom's boyfriend and his daughter. Which means after work Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, I'm booked. Weekends are the only days I get to spend time with Ian, and every other Friday I go to my writing group. That's my only interaction with my peers. Otherwise, it's all kids and coworkers, if even that. I was really hoping to be better friends with the people there and to hang out with Myisha, who also goes.I'll go through with this, but I'm going to have to tell him that I'll need some days off to have a life.
