4th Sacrifice - Preparations

[Phone | Everyone}

Hello again.

It may be bad time with what Mayfield has done. But I wish for some help.

I am not much of baker, and wish to make large batch of cookies for upcoming holidays and winter solstice. Something for the children to get minds off of what has happened.

Anyone willing to help with this?

Oh, Solstice cookies! I haven't done those in a few years, but I think I can still remember the technique. Do you used the sugar cookie version, or the ones with jam filling?

Sugar cookie would be fine, though Jam filling may be nice as well. What do children of Mayfield like?

There's a broad range of children, here. The ones that are aware come from a lot of different cultures, so they might need some explanations about the tradition. I'll see who can help, and we can bake this weekend.

Don't want cookies to be stale, maybe we should save baking for weekend before solstice?

True enough... I'll see about a test run, though. I don't think I'll have difficulty getting a dozen or two done in an afternoon, just to see if I can still draw the sigil properly on the cookies.

Sigil? Which sigil?

The solar disc - I usually have done that in icing on a round cookie. I don't know if I can make a sun-in-glory cookie cutter this quick.

I have old symbol for use for sun cookies. It is simple and easy to teach.

I thank you for assistance in this.

Always glad to learn new things, and thank you for reminding me of something from home.

Where is home for you?

Atlanta, in America. But this reminds me of my parents' preparations for the season, in Tennessee, with everybody bringing in their different traditions.

Ah, it is good to hear of old traditions kept strong.

I am from Chicago.

Trying to keep the spirit, if not the letter, of the old ways, at any rate.

Chicago would be colder than this place, this time of year?

Spirit is most important.

Chicago does get cold. My building is old and heat does not work so well.

Some older buildings can be beautiful but hard to maintain. I don't think I introduced myself, I'm Ilsa Higa.

It is true.

Well met Ilsa. I am Czernobog.
