Test Prep Madness, part 1 of one billion

Apr 01, 2009 19:01

Instead of actually studying things that I need to study, I found a free q-bank (set of questions to test yourself with in preparation for the actual test) for Step 1 (wikitestprep.org).  I took a 20-question test very haphazardly.  At the end, they showed me my score and then there was little button I could press that would extrapolate my score on those 20 questions to what I'd get on Step 1.  God knows whether it's accurate or not, but it says I would pass Step 1, even doing a crappy job and not really paying attention to important aspects of the questions, like the fact that "trisomy" and "triploidy" are not the same word.  I wouldn't pass by a whole lot, and I hope to have a much better score when the time actually comes, but...woo hoo!  I am so pleased, and I take off my hat to the creators of WikiTestPrep.  And if anyone tries to rain on my parade by telling me that this score extrapolation thing is completely meaningless, I will bash them over the head.

I learned a new thing about amoxicillin-induced rashes.  And was reminded of something that I used to know about ascending cholangitis.  I think I could remember Charcot's triad much more easily if there was not also Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.  Also, if I didn't have a really that Charcot was one of the proponents of hypnosis.  Which I am not sure he was, but if he wasn't, it was someone with a similar name.  And...a quick check of the wikipedia, yes, it was him.  Hypnosis and hysteria, which is what I thought.  And "at least 15 disease eponyms".  Gah.

My sister is coming to visit me on the 10th!  We will have Ethiopian food and go to the art museum.  And possibly go to Chinatown again.  Very excited about this.  And the 10th is after my two exams!

Beaming on the world due to the score extrapolating of WikiTestPrep,
Chang
