I am tiptoeing cautiously back into the LJ. It's a little embarassing. It's one thing not to be able to maintain a private journal that one keeps in one's nightstand, but it seems to be another thing entirely not to be able to maintain a semi-public record of one's life. Very embarassing.
So what is new?
1. I am still alive.
2. I am still in med school.
3. My sister is still alive. (So are the rest of my family, with exception of a great-aunt, who passed away...3 weeks ago? A month ago? I didn't know her very well, and the only memory I have of her is her making me eat three corned beef sandwiches at one sitting while she made racist comments in Yiddish. But my grandmother is sad.)
4. The Cat Brothers are still alive.
5. My relationship (??) with the gentleman whom I am currently dating who does not have a cute nickname yet continues on apace. He referred to me as his girlfriend last night. Maybe it was a slip of the tongue, but now I suppose I am more justified in referring to him as "my boyfriend" in conversation, instead of the complicated locution I was using, "This guy whom I'm sort-of-dating". Incidentally, I think he has a deep dark life secret, but I don't know what it is. I'm just getting those vibes.
6. I learned how to play Guitar Hero last weekend. I may be the last person in the world to have learned how to do this.
7. For the first time ever, I was able to appreciate an optic disc on fundoscopic exam yesterday. The kid had light-colored eyes, which I think helps. Or big pupils, or something. But it was awesome, I was very excited.
8. I think probably I took a bunch of tests since the last time I posted here. So, to follow the trend of recording all my scores: 92% on path, 84% on pharm. More tests coming up on 4/6 and 4/7.
9. I bought a lot of seeds at the gardening store, which I still need to plant. Possibly I will do this tomorrow. I think I was a bit ambitious, because I'd just come from the bookstore, where I had skimmed a book with beautiful photographs about container gardening, which is the sort of gardening that I do. I bought a ton of herbs, lettuces (as the book maintained that you could grow these quite well in pots), lobelias, snapdragons, marigolds, alyssum for carpeting, and poppies. And maybe nasturtiums, I don't quite remember.
10. My house is due for a good cleaning again. I don't know when I can do this. Hopefully before Passover, but since I have two exams on the two days before Passover starts, this is increasingly doubtful. Maybe on the first night of Passover.
I am back!
