But I accidentally unlocked the last post, so here's what's going on. I was trying to spare the vast majority of you from all my whining while I was going through this latest round of testing. I was diagnosed with a superior semicircular canal dehiscence, which is a hole in my skull between my brain and my inner ear. The good news is this could be causing all the problems I've had for the last four years or at least most of them. The bad news is this is a rare condition, so rare in fact that my neurotologist is presenting my case at a conference at Georgetown next month. Yeah, it's like that. So anyway, there is a surgery to correct this condition, but really only one surgeon in the world who has done more than a few of them. Luckily he's at Johns Hopkins which isn't far from here and very near my sister's house. That's the good news. The bad news is that the surgery is a middle fossa craniotomy which requires cutting a two inch square hole in my skull to plug the little bitty hole between my brain and my middle ear. As you can imagine I'm less than excited about this part, but I'm very tired of the symptoms and they seem to be getting worse. One funny things is that there is an online support group for this condition. Yes, just one. And it's international. Here's the funny part, it's the smallest forum I've ever been on. It has less than 400 members, all with extra holes in their heads. So there you go. That's my story and that's what the earlier post was about today.
