How is it November 22nd already?

I've been watching that Madonna concert special on NBC, and boy is it weird.  The first section was like bondage-lite with some of the dancers wearing leather outfits and bridles and stuff pretending to be horses, while other dancers whipped them with riding crops.  And then there was the raising awareness section with people talking about being abused, and pictures of millions of children in Africa that need help, and Madonna in a crown of thorns (yes, really) in front of a red neon glowing cross.  And the dude that directed this made some really weird choices.  Random moments of really distracting slow motion especially.

Seeing this has made me realize that I never want to see her live, though.  I'm not a big fan of "spectacle" concerts.  Sure, they're good on TV, but you know if you were there your seats would suck and everything would be so tiny that you wouldn't be able to tell what's going on anyway.

I may finish watching it, since it's nice background music for reading LJ, but I will probably turn over to my DVRed copy of tonight's Daybreak at about half past nine and watch that.  That way I don't have to watch commercials.  DVR rules!

Wait, she's playing a guitar now.  Really?!

And now they just bleeped out the line in "I Love New York" about Texas.  Clearly she either said something political, or NBC is really offended by characterizing Texas as a place where you go to golf.  This is bizarre.

Now she has a live band, and it's more like a regular concert.  This thing is all over the place.  With entirely too many random shots of various body parts, and too much slo-mo.

I got a new comforter for my bed yesterday.  Well, I ordered it last week because we had a 15% off coupon for The Company Store, but it came yesterday.  So, I got my featherbed out and put that on my bed (first time I've used it since we got this new mattress in 2003), and put the comforter on top.  Very comfy.  It's always freezing in my room, so I wanted a warmer comforter than I already had, so I got this one in the Extra Warmth (in Tandoori).  I expected it to be thicker than the Light Comfort one I have, but it wasn't.  It is nice and warm, though.  I was going to get the Ultra Warmth version, since it is really cold in here when it gets colder outside, but the operator I talked to said he lives in Wisconsin and only uses the Medium Warmth.  Well, he must get really warm at night or something, because with the Extra Warmth one I was still a bit cold last night.  That'll teach me, I guess.

Regardless, I'm going to keep it.  I really like the color (I have two duvet covers from my lightweight one anyway), and I'm sure wherever I end up when I move won't be as cold as it is here.  Plus, I can always add an extra blanket; I think that would be totally fine.

We're having our Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday, so tomorrow will probably see me watching some of my DVRed TV (Numb3rs, maybe?).  I hope everyone who's celebrating tomorrow has a very Happy Thanksgiving.  And to remind you all again (I will keep doing this just in case), if you want a holiday card from me, go here and leave your info.
