Joss is God.

Oh, Angel, Angel, Angel. I almost didn't think I'd ever say this again, but tonight's Angel was fantastic. So much to rave about.

From start to finish, everyone did a bang up job with this week's episode. Using Lorne to tell the story was very cool. It gave a kind of outside POV, as well as providing some great laughs (like that whole "I know I'm supposed to be unconscious during this part" shtick.) Very cool. It was also very successful in keeping up the suspense throughout the whole hour.

All the acting was fantastic. Charisma Carpenter was absolutely refreshing as old, season one BtVS, bitchy Cordelia. And the whole "Hello, salty goodness!" line was a great throwback. It absolutely cracked me up to see teenage Fred as a pot smoking, alien conspiracy theorist. I man not be too happy with Fred right now, but Amy Acker is still totally adorable. David Boreanaz made me not hate Angel for the first time in a while. The scene where he notices he has no reflection is hilarious, especially this bit:

Angel (coming out of bathroom): I'm invisible!
Cordelia: No you're not.
Angel: Oh. Excuse me.

Laughed my *ass* off.

Loved Wesley as well. Head Boy indeed. I've actually never thought of it that way before, either. I know, I'm shocked too. I guess my mind isn't as far in the gutter as I thought it was. Anyway... When Wesley was taping Lorne to the chair and he and Gunn were arguing, I almost lost it at Cordelia's "homo-erotic buddy cop" line. Nice nod (or maybe not 'nod', exactly) to the Wes/Gunn slashers. I actually saw it in this ep, too. Although when they were beating each other up, Angel's line about "the English bastards" getting what they deserved, and how his money was on "the slave"? That was my undoing. Good thing I wasn't trying to drink anything, or it so would've gone up my nose. And that hurts.

Wow, so many more good things this ep. From the great sight gags with Wesley's new kick-ass weapons ("nobody touch my arms!"), to the Connor stuff (since when is he 18?!), there was so much to talk about. At this point, I'm drawing a huge blank as to what other things I liked. I may have to watch it again, it was that good. May have to then do a proper review. Considering how little time I have to do that kind of thing, it probably won't happen, though. Preview for next week's looks like it could be really good, or tank miserably. Here's hoping for the former, so we can continue the run of great Angel episodes once more.

Also watched Lineage again. Just as good the second time around. I am really digging The WB's re-airings of Smallville. Especially since I missed the entire first minute or so of it on Tuesday, cause the WB is two minutes ahead of UPN. Stupid, WB. Anyway, I'd say something about Lineage, but latxcvi pretty much said everything for me here. She's all kinds of smart, so go read.

So, not much else to mention right now. Just spent all the money in my bank account paying bills (fun stuff), and had another hellish weekend filming and editing (mostly hellish filming, but the footage turned out great). Now it's time for me to try and catch up on some other stuff, including studying for a Spanish test (not looking forward to it at all). Argh, too much work! I need a hug.

angel, smallville
