Post Hell Week, er Spring Break Post

Mar 18, 2003 17:20

So, my parents left a while ago, but I am just now catching up on sleep. I can't believe we did so much last week. And we didn't really get to everything we wanted to do. I had fun, though. I hope they did.

Secretly, I'm glad they're gone, though. I guess I'm just used to being by myself now, and maybe I just can't deal with them, especially mom. Specifically, the fact that mom seems to always complain about how much pain she's in. Oh, I totally understand that she has horribly painful arthritis (not being sarcastic, here), but that doesn't really give her the right to bitch about things every five seconds (slight exaggeration, yeah, but you get the idea). My feet hurt after walking for a while, but I don't constantly bitch about it. I have a problem with my upper back (pinched nerve?), but don't complain about that. Something now seems to be wrong with my knee, which totally sucks. I hope it's just a temporary thing.

On the upside, the lack of roommates for a week allowed me ample time to get better. My cough is gone and I feel tons better. I just hope I can sleep alright tonight. Alison, sweetheart that she is, snores like a buzzsaw. It's absolutely horrible. I think the fact that she was sick was hindering the snoring, which sounds odd, but it's the only thing I can think of. It was so bad on Sunday night that I was almost crying. It was not too bad last night, though. We'll see about tonight.

Last night I watched Blue Velvet for my English class. I have to say that it is possibly the most fucked up thing I've ever seen. Absolute insanity. It was interesting, though. I'd like to watch it again. I think I'd have to wait a while, though. I don't think I could deal with a repeat viewing so soon. And I'd like to watch the DVD so I could have subtitles. Some of the dialogue was so damn quiet that I could hardly hear it. Probably due to VHS and shitty TV speakers, but the subtitles couldn't hurt.

Tonight we see Stones in His Pockets which is a "two hander" (meaning there are two actors). Each actor plays at least five characters, and it's supposed to be very funny. I'm looking forward to it. Then I think next week is Arsenic and Old Lace. Not sure though. Have to remember to tell the professor that we need to see Dance of Death. I'll try to find her tonight.

I am so happy to be out of class early. We had a midterm, which I did OK on. Will know more when I get it back. I need to finish this bibliography for my paper on Scream so that I can send it to the professor. I forgot to do the web resources, and didn't have time to type up my other sources (bad me!). Thankfully, he said I could e-mail it to him, and I should be able to do that in a half hour or so.

I guess it's time to get back to work, even though I really don't want to.

Ooh, there's an FTP client on this computer. Will see what I can grab off the server in order to work more on my website. The work will have to wait for five or ten minutes.
