So it kind of looks like I was going for the record for "most months without a post", doesn't it? I guess I just haven't felt like writing much. I've been reading LJ pretty much every day (keeping up with it, at least), and occasionally commenting, but I haven't had the energy to organize my thoughts into something long and post-able. I think part of it is that I've seen a lot of you a bunch of times IRL, so it feels like I've already told the Internet a lot of the stuff I would want to post about. Also, the whole not posting for, good lord, eight months made me feel like my next post had to be huge, which just made me less likely to want to post anything. So, here I am, saying hi. I'm not dead. :)

Hmm...things. Oh, I have a new kitten!
His name is Gus. Those pictures were taken when I got him at the beginning of July, and since then, he came home with giardiasis and pink eye, and hurt himself right after he got well from that (literally the day he came back from getting his shots/checkup at the vet's). Those of you who have cats know that aside from food and sleep, one of their favorite things to do is walk where your feet are going to be. So, I was walking into my bathroom to take a shower, and he raced out of the bathroom and under my bare foot. Unlike the other times I've stepped on cats over the years, I must have put my foot down on his in exactly the wrong way, because, even though he didn't cry when I did it, he started limping right away. We went back to the vet the next day, and an x-ray showed that he'd fractured his paw. He had to stay in a cage
with a splint on for two weeks, and then for several more days once he got it off. Finally, more than a month after I got him, he was allowed to run around the apartment for more than a few hours on Monday. He seems fine now, but boy was that a nightmare to go through.
Not sure if Lily really likes him yet, but I'm sure she will. She was so sad all by herself after Archie (my other cat that I got toward the end of last year) died earlier this year, so I think she'll be happy once she gets used to having a kitten who wants to play all of the time around. Mostly, she's just annoyed that he wants to jump all over her and attack her tail. It's really cute, tbh.

I have a bunch of stuff I want to post about, including how I am apparently (at least a little bit) in the Inception fandom for the time being, but that post involves recs, which are totally unorganized, so maybe later this week. Now I think I will just post this and get ready for bed. Hi again, LJ, I think I'm back!
