So, last night in our adventures we rescued a Wookie Jedi master, killed a Dark-side alien spider the size of a Mack truck by setting off a space mine inside a controlled space (our team is really big on the "overkill - if it works, it's just kill enough" method of evil-creature fighting), and I acquired a 180-pound lizard-dog-thing (Night Hound) and his litter of lizard-puppies.
I'm calling him Bruce.
So yeah, I'm kind of getting the appeal. :)
Yesterday afternoon the roomie and I sampled Prayag Raj, a Gujarati Indian restaurant that specializes in vegetarian food. The lunch special is buffet-style, so you pick up a tin tray (like in prison) and serve yourself as much as you think you can eat. And then you go back, because a) it is very hot and I seriously underestimated the amount of necessary rice, and b) it is delicious. Wee tiny old lady came around offering us fresh-made roti and some kind of little puffy bread-things that neither of us had ever had before - both whole-wheat flour. Yesterday's buffet was some-kind-of-lentil-thing, eggplant curry, green rice (I do know the name for this but at the moment it escapes me), and potato curry. Mango lassi also delicious, and highly fortunate when I began to lose all feeling in my mouth. (Note: my experience should not be a guidepost, as my tolerance for spicy things is notoriously wussy.) More frequent water refills might have been nice, but that's my only real complaint.
Whole lunch was twelve bucks. So, two thumbs up for Prayag Raj.
Also yesterday (after my loans papers finally showed up, yay!) I finally went down to the British Consulate-General and confirmed my citizenship status - the nice lady at the counter seemed equally horrified by their website and its infuriating vagueness, but it was confirmed that yes, I am considered a British citizen, but in order to use my citizenship for anything (like work anywhere in the EU, for instance) I need a passport, and because my parents weren't married when I was born, in order to get one I have to file several mysterious forms that I can only acquire by dialling a number that costs me $2.90 CAD a minute on top of long-distance charges.
So I'll be doing that next weekend from Mum's.
Just about done the second Sweater 'Verse story. Just waiting on beta, who should be done this evening, I expect. Have even written 1,100 words of Big Bang! So, that's an improvement? (On nothing, certainly.)
