The count, and the new Heroes.

Three hundred and thirteen pages.

Three hundred and thirteen pages.

I printed it out today. The stats:

Completed pages=313
Completed chapters=20
Chapters still confined to crappy outlines=18
Packages of dollar-store dividers expended=4
Number of extremely unhappy printer cartridges=1
Approximate weight of whole thing, all together=SEVEN THOUSAND POUNDS

It's going to be a THOUSAND PAGES LONG. Okay, no, probably four hundred. Gods. This is going to be murder to edit. *headdesk*

I do find it kind of funny that I did the first fifty thousand words in one month, and the other fifty thousand will have taken me another six. Seven at the absolute outside.

On the other hand, at about a chapter a day, the rate I'm going, I should definitely have it done by May this time. Including the two weeks I'll spend agonizing over the boring connecty-bits I tend to leave 'til last. I'm noticing a disturbing trend in my writing - I enjoy re-reading my own fic, but generally not my original stuff. With the possible exception of some of the later-timeline Paxverse stuff. And that's mainly because in my head, it's all fic by now, really. I don't know if this is a sign of the quality of the original fic, or just that I've spent way too much time reading it. Hm. Maybe I should stop thinking about it.

Anyway, May. Seriously. I mean it this time. *firm nod*

Let's see... the new Sanctuary trailer is up - this would be a slightly-cleaned-up version of the one we got to see on the tour. I'll be straight with you: I can't get it to load, for some reason, but only because the main page won't stop loading off a cached file, despite my having deleted the Temps. Go figure. If you can view it, do. It is excellent and it becomes excellenter with every viewing. Shut up. :P

And then there was Heroes. Wheee. :D On the subject of which I will refrain from comment except to tell you all that the very geekiest thing I shouted at the TV this particular evening was: "JESS! DECLAN! DON'T FIGHT!"

Which is not actually a spoiler at all, really, unless you happen to be a)a former student of Douglas College in Coquitlam, b)familiar with extremely obscure Canadian shows, and/or c) me. Probably. And even then, it's a bit of a stretch. ;)

So I'm sitting here, watching cartoons (as it is Saturday, and all), and suddenly on comes one of those awful music videos that Family Channel is always airing - you know the type. Usually a Disney Girl singing some mediocre jazzed-up cover of a love song.

Except this time it was three sort of grungy-cute boys, singing Poor Unfortunate Souls.

Yes, the one from The Little Mermaid.

The one sung by Ursula the Sea Witch.

I was about to change the channel to Juniper Lee on Toon (have I mentioned how much I love digital cable, and the ability to watch cartoons on six channels at once?), when suddenly I realised that they'd changed the song. They didn't change any important words, or anything, but suddenly, the song was a story about how society represses young girls, convincing them that to be happy they need to be meek, and subtly implying that people who propogate these views are just power-hungry assholes out to maintain corrupt traditions for their own ends.

It was really quite amazing.

Sometimes, television fails to disappoint me. ;)

A Stargate and then sleep. And even dressed up to go swing dancing Carter manages to come off as a complete and utter nerd. I can't tell you how endearing I find that.

handmaids, cartoons, heroes, riverwend, stargate, gilmore girls, fic, paxverse, juniper lee, standalone writing, sanctuary, school, tvlore, techwhore
