So, I finished it.

Er.

I'll... need some time.

Like, to finish three papers, re-skim nine novels, pull two thousand dollars magically out of the air somehow before they, say, cut off my internet, and read it again.

And before you IRL folk say anything, FIREFLY DAY IS STILL ON. If I can write three papers in two days, you people can make it.

(Sorry. A bit out of sorts right at the moment.)

EDIT: Nadja/Susan/anybody else who brought a camera last night, may I have *all* your pictures? If you're coming to All The Cool Kids Are Doing It And The First Time's Free Firefly Day, you could bring them burned to CD, I would be eternally grateful.

YOU THOUGHT I WAS KIDDING EDIT: I really am going to read it again. And take notes this time. These books have finally reached the Terminal Mass of Confusing Detail allowed by my brain without artificial help. So, notes.

MY ONLY COMPLAINTS SO FAR EDIT:

Snape? Snape?! Oh, come on, J.K., you could have done better than that. It's like you got to the absolute last second where you had to figure it out, and defaulted the the most predictably obvious choice available. I grant you may yet have some mysterious and incredible reason for this which I have not yet divined, but at the moment I just find this annoying. Ooh, Snape is evil. Gee, really? Because you'd never know it looking at him or anything.

Speaking of predictable: Ginny/Harry. I swear, I do not begrudge the die-hards their ship, but just... sigh. That's all I can say: Sigh. Don't get me wrong, I like Ginny and everything. But it seemed like a hurriedly-planned distractionary tactic. And read like about nine hundred and twenty-six fics I've read, as did many of the deeply startling revelations in this book. And again: predictable. Dull. May I also mention: random? This has nothing to do with my being a die-hard Trio shipper. Shut up. Anyway. She'll probably die. Which I'll regret, but it means that it's one person other than Hermione or Ron whose death might potentially, distantly, be enough to turn Harry into a killer.

Small niggle: Did the endless mental repetition of the Horcruxes strike anyone with the sudden similarity of HBP to Super Mario? I had to stop in the middle and drive the comparison firmly out of my head, or I wouldn't have been able to be properly traumatised. Not that a lot of it was actually surprising. For instance, Tonks/Remus. Not a huge shock, nor particularly disturbing, but saddens me in that perhaps the Gandalf parallels did, indeed, end with book five. (And so of course I am sad over that all over again, on top of everything else.) But, y'know, good for them, I guess.

All my other complaints so far revolve around there being far too little in the way of Marauders references so far, and not nearly enough of grieving Remus, but I'll get back to you once I've read it through again and can give more intelligent thought to it. At that point I'll also add the cool things I only ever notice second run-through. ;)

But before then may I be the three-billion-and-thirty-first person to put forth: R.A.B.=Regulus? Huh? I would say a)weird and random and b)nonsensical, but at the moment I honestly can't think of anybody else who potentially has those initials.

BITTY SPOILER EDIT: Need to re-iterate, once more: Big. Giant. Fic. Which is actually okay, but only completely okay if some other things happen in the next book, though my book karma doesn't run that way, so I'm not holding my breath. ;)

Desperately in need of sleep, now, as unholy weight of late assignments threatening to crush head into pulpy mess. Cheers.

LAST EDIT BECAUSE I'M THIS CLOSE TO COMA: lisew, I HATE YOU I HATE YOU I HATE YOU. *scrubs out brain with bleach*
