a very late review of 'The Runaway Bride' episode

Apr 28, 2008 14:15

It has been so long, and still I don't get how and why people hated 'The Runaway Bride' special so now this is my review to make myself clear why I LOVE Donna Noble.

First I state the obvious:

I watched the 'Runaway Bride' only last summer, as the rest of Doctors seasons. So for me the shock of Doomsday (seriously you can't imagine how crushed I was since I had no spoiler at all about what was going to happen).

So as I said my heart was completely broken when I saw the ginger woman appeared on the Tardis. I had no idea who Catherine Tate was or if she ever did anything in her file. SO as much I hated the idea of having no Rose anymore I watched this without any expectation or prejudice.

Then ok I click play on my DVD player and I remember that as first think I wanted to punch the blond girl in the church, what can I say I absolutely hated her.

Then when Donna started to fight with the Doctor I ROTFL-ed so hard!!! [And I didn't even got all the lines properly at time. C.T. is quite hard to understand sometimes, at least for me ]

Then I realized that something: her first real and proper question she ask is "How am I breathing?"
That for me give the idea that she's not the stupid as people thinks she is. I mean it's a good damn question!

And then for how I understood, she get sort of scared, from watching the space outside the Tardis and She react snarling.

And ok, I'm not the most objective person but all her yelling makes me laugh (OK, I may understand why people don't like it) .

When the Tardis is getting in that "follow that car!" mode on (and hey 10! That's not the way to treat your TARDIS)

And here using Rose's departure - the one they set up earlier in the episode - DT's tear shine in his eyes (can he be blessed by whatever God you - or him - believe in) and the other car kids nagging Donna to jump in... Gosh I love this guys!! I love this writer! He's bloody brilliant!

Then the roof scene: Try to guess? I LOVE THAT. Sweet. I love the way the Doctor Give Donna his jacket and she is so embarrassed she snarl about his being a too skinny boy.

And again he's stopped when he speak about the last Christmas with Rose, and you can see Donna understand his pain, and then she start to tell her own tale. And at the end she just want to feel loved and appreciated, and here was were I decided I loved C.T.

And poor Donna here's thinking how devastate Lars could be and we see him, really devastated - the bastard - from the dancing too hard with the blond bitch. (told ya I hate her!). If I was Donna here, I would broke all Lars's little legs.... the three of him - If you know what I mean. But here she's here and when people start to attach her she play the heartbroken card - winking toward the doctor to let him know she's all right - She's brilliant!

And how painful Rose's memories were while people were having fun? Sigh we all miss her Doctor!

I loved Than after the three get boom Donna start with caring about injured people.

And into the H.C. Clements building by the basement DT's laugh sound creepy for me! And did I mention Donna's decision to not leave 10's side is cleaver?

And then we found she didn't miss stuff like Cyberman & Daleks because she's not smart enough. She was busy doing something new like scuba driving make earn point, from me, for the effort. She's trying to find herself.

Then They found the huon Lab and you know what? Donna slapping 10 for enjoy it wasn't so out of place!
Try to look from her prospective, she should be married (me shudder I hated Last since the post no wed party) and having fun with family and friends and instead people get hurt, she found our she was fed with some extinct substance and the skinny 'Martian' boy is having fun. To slap him wasn't the worse thing she could do.

Oh by the way Sarah Parish who's able to recognize her ? Why bring if you can't see her face? (she was amazing... you hate all the time and the she scream my children... and I feel sorry for her!)

Again about Donna: Tell me you don't feel sorry for her when that bastard of Lars says all the horrible thing about her.

And does anyone who hates Donna noticed that "that selfish woman" shield the doctor body with her own when They want to kill him? "No, I won't let them!" Wow!!! I found her brave: all her world just broke in front of her and she is still defending the doctor.

And only they are safe she allow her to breakdown. And I love that the doctor doesn't know what to do to make her feel better and so he tries to show her the wonderful thing outside- literally - as you do with a child, distracting her from her pain showing her something new, something incredible.
And of course it works.

What happen next is that for the first time we really see how is the doctor at his worse the whole Racnos specie exterminated with fire and water.

He needed Donna to Stop him. I loved that. And I still do it Every time I saw the episode.

And I'm moved EVERY TIME I see the moment , out of Donna's house, where she said the Doctor
she can't go with him. Their face? Both C.T. & D.T. are such amazing actors!

"It's beautiful"
"And It's terrible. That place was flooded and burning and they were dying and you stood there like, I don't know, a stranger. And then you made it snow! I mean you scared me to death"
And then the wonderful line

"That friend of your, what was her name?"
"Her name's Rose" Gosh EVERY TIME in this exact moment my heart break. The way Tennant's voice crack telling her name, the sadness in his eyes, the way his chin rise so full of proud and love... He kills me every bloody time.

So.... That's my very late review of this episode. It's crappy :p I know But hey I was just trying to make a point. DONNA NOBLE is one of the best companion EVER! And she will break my heart I already know it! (and I have no spoiler)

See you soon Guys!
