The Poetry Project… - Project Aug ’11

For the month of August I have decided to do something that I had been putting off for a long time now. I am a huge fan of Urdu & Hindi poetry and derived a lot of pleasure from translating my favorite verses into English.
The process allowed me to better understand the nuances of works of great men like Gulzar, Javed Akhtar, Ghalib & others; and also gave me the opportunity to learn pieces of Urdu (which I find to be a very beautiful language).
So for this whole month, I will be translating a piece of poetry/lyrics each day. I will try and include songs that I have loved over the years, some very famous and some unknown to most of you.
I am certain that I might be able to bring out the best as translations tend to lose the core of poetry, but I promise to do my very best.
