Conversations With Her - Letting Go...

Aug 24, 2009 20:59

Me: I finally managed to watch "Love Aaj Kal"
Her: Oh so finallly we can speak about it without me spoiling the movie for you.
Me: He he, I was laughing so hard when that 'long distance relationships don't work' part came around.

Her: He he, that was so you.
Me: Actually you know that is why I think I loved the movie... Actually that is why I have loved all Imtiaz Ali movies...
Her: Because he doesn't also believe in long distance relationships?
Me: Yeah... No... Its more like we have the exact same philosophies wrt love...
Her: Hmmm
Me: For one, I would have so recommend having a break up party. That is such a cool idea
Her: Seriously, are you insane. Isn't that like a really sad thing to have to leave someone you love
Me: Yeah its sad, but if its inevitable you might as well celebrate it rather than to mourn it. Well thats the way I look at it.
Her: What I think is that its so hard to find someone special and then losing them. You cant celebrate that.
Me: Ok, but I dont think either of them thought they had found the one or something.
Her: Hmmm... So, what about the movies?
Me: Ok, lets first look at all the similarities in his movies. One similarity I found is that he always makes his female lead take really drastic steps to make the love work...
Her: Hmmm... yeah thats there...
Me: In Socha Na Tha, he had Ayesha Takhia's character runnign away from her wedding to ask Abhay Deol to run away with her...
Her: Oh yeah...
Me: In Jab We Met, Kareena Kapoor's character on her wedding day decides to change the bridegroom... In the climax. Finally in Love Aaj Kal, Deepika Padukone's character actually changes her mind after the wedding. Which for me was crazily bold...
Her: Wow...
Me: There is a disturbing pattern wrt weddings of heroines in his movies isnt there :P
Her: He he
Me: Anyway, with the guys its always the same philosophy... They are always prepared to walk away from their love so that their love can be happy...
Her: Hmmm
Me: There is this philosophy about love that I strongly believe in. It goes something like - “If you love something, let it go. If it comes back to you, its yours forever. If it doesn’t, then it was never meant to be.”
Her: You believe in that...
Me: Yeah, and very strongly too. Thats the point all the lead actors in his movies believe in one way or another in it too...
Her: So if you love someone you would let them go.
Me: Yeah, I would. I sounds extreme but actually its much easier to do if you really believe in that philosophy.
Her: What if the person you love also thinks like that and is waiting for you to come back...
Me: Hmmm... Never thought of that... but then it would be a dead lock of sorts. It cant remain like that forever. I guess at some point you would just realize that... that person was always there. I dont know, if its meant to be it will happen.
Her: I think its too hard to find someone special so I dont see why you would want to do that.
Me: Thats coz I am very filmy
Her: That toh you are... totally
Me: Hey trust me, it still takes talent to be filmy :P
