a baseball game i'll never forget

so Rene, John and I went to probably the best/most miraculous dodger game we've ever been to. for those who haven't already heard, dodgers were losing to the padres 9-5 in the bottom of the ninth inning. A lot of fans had already filed out, which is typical of dodger fans. But the three of us had hope. What happened next has only happened 4 times EVER in the history of baseball. The first four batters who came up, EACH HIT A HOME RUN. Two were off some crappy pitcher, but two were off the padres' best relief pitcher, trevor hoffman. LOSER! HAHA! And for those who don't know..the dodgers are the worst homerun hitting team in their league. To hit 7 homeruns in one game is...amazing!

anywho, dodgers tie the game at 9, and go in to the tenth inning. at the top of the tenth, the padres score a run, and again, more dodger fans file out. And yet, with my rally cap in hand, the three of us stayed, hoping for another miracle. AND WHAT HAPPENS? Kenny Lofton gets on base and then Nomar Garciaparra...the guy had done nothing the whole day, steps up to the plate. Fans are all on their feet, cheering. The noise grows louder. and then....HOME FUCKING RUN. DODGERS WIN THE GAME!

The fans went freakin crazy. Everyone was high fiving and hugging strangers. I got plenty of hugs and high fives, even after the game was over. Just walking to the car, we heard plenty of cars honking, and plenty of fans still yelling. Hell, even as we were driving, this truck of girls asked us if we were dodger fans, and when we said yes, we all hooted and hollered.

what a great day in baseball. Dodgers retake first place from the padres, and the giants get destroyed in colorado 20-8.
