You Are A Poison

A low, gentle moaning fills the stagnant air

Your words are so hollow and so void of a care

Why be full of love when all I feel is hate

Infinitesimal, only second rate

I’m embraced by thorns, not by your loving arms

I’m through with your useless and unfulfilled charms

I look to the sky and expect to see light

A glimmer, a hope that all will turn out right

It’s a wish, a want, and now all is in vain

I look to the sky and am drowned by the rain

You fill a memory that I can’t erase

Now as I am falling, I see just your face

But how could I ever give you all the blame

It’s me that is falling into all these flames

You look to me, laughing, and hearts slowly break

This love, this rapture that I felt was all fake

To think that you loved me, encircled in lies

You saw me, you smiled, you laughed, said goodbye

Surrounded by nothing, I swim in my tears

Trying to forget all of those shattered years

I’m rained on by fire and walking in glass

Pray that these turbulent times someday pass

I leave behind blood prints and ascend the stair

It’s choking me, killing me, poisonous air

I give back to you the indifference you gave

It’s life that I’m wanting and dreams that I crave

Please kill me in anger and kill me in rage

Perhaps then I can finally turn the page
