Schools Welsh and Dust

Schools, Welsh and Dust

Its time to put the paint brush down, I've come as far as I can this weekend on my Ashigaru, so, to get cracking on the blog.

Schools Rule

No tree hacking this weekend or the rather nice tightness of the safety harness through my overalls. Yesterday was focused more on house work and kids home work. It seems that at last my eldest is getting decent level of home work, they do seem to have at bit easy at Welsh primary schools, my youngest is at an English language school and she has been loaded with for more work than her sister through out her education. In September next year the eldest starts at secondary school, I think she will have a bit of shock to the system. On Thursday evening the school had an open evening, I was encouraged by her response to the maths and science department, bat as always I felt the most uncomfortable in the music department, to the extent that while I was happy for my eldest to have a rummage I kept out of it. So there was no war gaming this week.

Lergy on Monday evening made going kick boxing inadvisable, as I have to take my eldest to another school open evening tomorrow, for her second choice school. As it happens to be the school my wife works at, (and has spent the last six months away from on sick leave) she has landed me with the task. Its also the same school I supported on some industry and schools liaison work a few years ago.

Soggy Start

The black dog has growled a bit this week, when the wife used our temperamental washing machine early as it 5am on Monday morning. I was confronted by a flooded dining room, I told the missus to get her act together and clear the room, open the back door and try to get the old dark carpet to dry out. In all fairness its not done too badly, though when she tried to hover up mess from the animal cages and ended up with brown sludge in the vacuum cleaner. She was damn lucky not to blow the hoover or get electrocuted.

Welsh and the Dead (or those not far off)

Welsh class was OK, but we were joined by some one who can only be described as a coffin dodger, the poor old chap when assigned a group tasks, though in this case the group equates to me (as the other three class members are all from the same family and resolutely stick together). He sits there barely able to remember what the task is. This week my Welsh home work is to learn the body parts, as I prefer to learn by writing, I was able to find an autopsy report body diagram, on which I blanked out the coroner's notes, thenmade multiple copies. To master body parts in welsh I just keep marking up the sheets over and over again till I can do it with out needing to refer to the reference notes. While I was looking for the sheets on line, I came across Elvis's autopsy report.

Dusty Friday

On Friday the Wargames club had our new storgae cabinets delivered to the Sports and Social Club we meet, as it was was I had to finish work later than normal (for half day Friday) due to a late meeting. After that I spent about six and half hours in the social club store room, emptying the old cabinets, moving them out then sorting through the club resources re-boxing in our new storage containers and stowing it away. From seven onwards, this work was conducted with the line dancing club stomping away in the background. I wonder how I looked to them (them being a veritable horde of late middled ladies (mmm am I missing an opportunity here?)) emerging from the store room, dusty, sweaty and knackered as they two stepped away in their best denims and tasselled tops. I didn't get home till after 9.

The Work Front

The week was dominated by machine trails and tests, my shirts have been reeking of cutting fluid and my trousers have glittered metallically with a fine dusting of swarf. Meetings have bordered on turgid and frustrating, listening to managers launch into ultimately circular debates, that leave you deciding to do what you originally planned to do, while paying lip service to what ever buzz word laden initiative is flavour of the month. I can but hope the gentleman in question is promoted as soon as possible. Hence it critical that my endeavours make him look good, to hasten his departure.

I know this ramble has been a shorter than normal. But its been that sort of week.

To all my friends across nation ocean and ether, take care and have a safe, sane and peaceful week.
