Tonight I prepared a 4-course dinner for my parents.
1. Salad with Tuna bits and Gouda cheese
2. Vegetable soup
3. Pizza Margherita from Trader Joes, imported from Italy
4. immature dessert, Swiss milk chocolate ice-cream from Fenton (my dad said it's "Snow White and her 7 Little Watermelons"
In the mean time, I lost interest on playing any PC games. I canceled
my WoW account in May (I made the peon cry, haha) and I stopped playing
Guild Wars after I came back from NYC. All of the sudden they seem dull
and repetitive to me. I guess it's a good sign and I can focus more on
school work next semester.
Compare to my usual 1-2 movies total per year, I watched 'a lot' of
movies since May. Here is the list (except Star Wars and X-Men, I
watched all of them for the first time):
-Star Wars 1-6: doesn't really
count because I watched the other episodes to refresh my memory. Going
to watch III again this week with my film-major friends.
-Closer: I can't believe Lucas
turned Natalie Portman into an emotionless stone in Star Wars! Her
acting is excellent in this movie (and her body, too I can't resist),
although the storyline is a bit weird. The story really doesn't matter
when there are 4 superb casts.
-Spirited Away: A+++ movie. The
details, animation, story, character development, dialogue,
imagination... I'm speechless. Miyasaki is my all-time-favorite ever
since I watched Totoro when I was 8.
-Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events:
Good movie, and the ending tune is still annoyingly stuck in my head.
His quacky humorous commentary hasn't change. He's the same old
political writer when I first saw his performance with YO few years ago.
-Soldier's Girl: a very sad and real story.
-Titanic: watched it on
JetBlue. I fell asleep midway again and still don't understand why this
bored-me-to-sleep-every-time movie was a hit in 1997.
-a french movie about an old, Islamic man and a French, Jewish kid exploring the Muslim world in the 1950s. I think it's a good movie.
-Latter Days: I didn't know
it's a gay movie until the waitresses bet on the missionary. An
impossible storyline but nonetheless good acting.
-X-Men 2: I love how Magneto escapes from the plastic prison, and Storm's weather abilities.
-Pianist: I think it's a so-so film. It's no fun if you know the main character will survive all the hardship
-8 Mile: still trying if I can turn off the Chinese caption. (I got the VCD in a Hong Kong Virgin Megastore)
-Batman Begins: this week
-Princess Mononoke: I can't wait for the delivery
That's about it for now. I just heard a Tsunami warning, and it was
supposed to be 2 hours ago. That means I'd be dead while eating my Snow
White dessert...
