18 months!

A year and a half! It's already mindboggling that two years ago I was pregnant and one year ago we already had a sturdy infant in place of a tiny newborn.

Pediatrician says: height 33" (85th %ile), weight 24lb 14oz (60th %ile), head circumference 90th %ile. Everything looks good.

We are finally seeing that first real blossoming of vocabulary. ( food, clothes, shapes, and the requisite animal noises )

Don't forget, she's experimenting with you, too: every time she drops something from her high chair, it's as much about seeing how far you'll go to give it back to her. Every noise you make is a test to see how you react. She's learning the bounds of your action-reaction feedback loop as much as you're learning hers.

She's a little young for it, but if you can show her immediately after that you're taking videos of her, she may become more cooperative. ARR loves to watch videos of himself. Also, using a phone and flipping to selfie mode can work. The angles get weird, but they really like looking at themselves and you can get a little footage.

Yay progress! It is amazing to watch the cylinders kick in. Only gets more fun as they learn to truly communicate. And H. also went through a raccoon stage, in which he insisted on swishing all his food in water... but mercifully he didn't insist on dumping the water out first.
