2008 in review:
Winter: New years party at our place. Went to Philly after the new year. Bought a new car. Turned 30. Started teaching a class on medicine in popular culture. Chicago visit for my 30th birthday. Played a lot of board games. Finished cross-stitch for in-laws.
Spring: Trip to Madison. Trip to Chicago for Easter. Trip to New Orleans for CCCC. Relaxing vacation in Indy. Another trip to Indy to see Eddie Izzard. Cast on/knit my first pair of socks. Finished my prospectus. Submitted my IRB forms.
Summer: My IRB forms got approved! Trip to Seattle. Bonnaroo. My dad visits, a new tenant moves in to my house. Road trip to Philly, ending in a trip to Virginia. Gencon the next weekend. Darren proposes, got engaged! Jury duty. Elijah gets sick again.
Fall: Knit many more pairs of socks. Started writing my diss. Picked a date and secured a location for the wedding (May 22, 2010 at the I-Hotel in Champaign). Phillies win the world series. Trip to DC. Obama wins the election. Bought a new computer. Hosted Thanksgiving for both families in Urbana. Successful colloquium presentation. Helen & Chris's wedding.

Things I'd never done before: knit socks, write diss chapters, go to a board game convention, visit Seattle & New Orleans, get engaged.
