[Because of the nice half-naked lady with the horns? She's very charming, he's found.
He doesn't recognize Peylix, but he gives him a quaint smile as he passes anyway. He can at least recognize him as another Gallifreyan.] Misplaced too, I see.
You're... well, you either live outside of one of the domes or you're... It doesn't matter. Do you need any help? [He'll just come over in his frumpy Time Lord robes. Which are always in the way but he'll proudly wear them anyway.] How much have you seen already? I must say this ship is quite remarkable.
They are. [He sounds thoroughly pleased. Fortunately, he's not stepped close enough to that plant to make him do anything embarrassing. He's unfortunately behind on his foreign customs, Gallifrey bound as he is.]
I've always wanted to see the universe. I'm enjoying little samples of it around this ship. Here and there.
[In fairness, that custom likely didn't exist back then.] /The universe is around us all times, hints of possibility of peoples woven in us, in the clothes we wear, the language we speak, the encounters we have. We all absorb as much as we express, perhaps more, we need only look for it./
/We did not spring from the hand of the Gods as much as the Pythia would have had us believe./
No. We did not. [Gods sprang from them, if anything.]
You remind me of someone I know. [Someone else who had similar ideas. Best not to think too hard on it. An awkward joke. A shift of gaze. Just get away from the idea that he's gone, and there's no way to fix it without breaking laws they agreed upon.]
This must be an especially enjoyable place for you thus far, then. Seen anything you'd like to share?
He was very much a friend, yes. [The was part the most telling of all.] Then I'll have to try it. I don't have much time to indulge myself anymore. Authority comes with as many shortcomings as advantages.
/You lost him./ [Peylix knows well the feeling of both the former and the authority, but force of habit keeps his tongue on the latter. He smiles.] /Then allow this simple man to guide you to the pub./
Thank you. [He ignores the thoughts of a lost friend for the promise of spending time with someone of the older times. There were a few good days then- mostly when he saw his people stand up to oppression and fear. This fellow strikes him as the sort that would have been on their side.
He motions for Peylix to move ahead and he'll follow.]
[Peylix takes the stairs as while he's investigated the lifts, they don't strike him as particularly... trustworthy. He has his son's item on hand to activate the door to the warden area. He smiles at him when they find the bar.] /It's a curious little place, isn't it?/
It is. I'm a little perplexed by the bursts of psychic activity I'm feeling. They're unusually hostile.
[And reflected in the TARDIS left in his room, which is strange since it shouldn't be his ship. For now, though, the bottles across the counter have his attention.]
/Hmm. One of them appeared on the deck. He would not sip the wine./ [Which tells you all you need to know, really, doesn't it? Peylix reaches for an interesting looking bottle and a couple of glasses, pouring it out for the two of them.]
Was he from our world? [Who won't take wine? Well, he can't do it so much anymore but he will now! He's not got to be in a stuffy office today or listen to seven hours of proposals.
