Yes, to undo damage placed under great duress.

I'm waiting for Narvin's agreement as well. It is his device. [But the Doctor isn't above being a black-mailing bastard at him to get it.]

I have his permission. I'll come by and sign for the device as it makes you comfortable.

[FFFFFFF. PAIRED AGAIN, BOOO.]

Wherever is convenient for you, Doctor.

[Pause]

Could I ask, have you had a chance to look over my file yet?

I thought we could go over it together! Quite the fun activity, don't you think? Reading a dry perspective on your own life.

[That doesn't sound like it's going to leave him any opportunities for theft. WHY MUST YOUR ROOM BE A TARDIS, DOCTOR? How's he supposed to break in to one of those?]

Perhaps. I'm sure there's something to be said for being exposed to an unbiased reading of it.

[And now he's wondering if he'll be able to just. Snatch his file and run. He could probably outrun you, Doctor. That's what he thinks.]

[He is surprisingly fast, Mr. Profit. And he bites, too! Maybe.]

At least then you'll know what it says. But I'm not interested in delving into your past yet. I want to know what it is you're doing now. Oh, plenty of people have had truly wonderful pasts and done things unquestionably terrible. Some people have come from deplorable backgrounds and gone on to do wonderful things. Who you are is more important than what you were.

So we'll skip to the end of the book for this meeting, what say you? A good writer always tells a mystery story backwards anyway.

You, wanting to use a mindwipe? How interesting.

Who is this shy patient? I've had more experience with the technology so it would be safer for me to perform the procedure. In fact, I may have to insist on it. [Not that he's that concerned about the patient's welfare. Narvin wants to know which warden is that desperate and whether the information might be useful to him.]

Which should tell you how justified I feel in my course of action. Mr. Howie agreed to let me take it, but I couldn't be unfair enough to divulge their name. Not after having those thoughts impressed upon them.

You probably don't even know how to work the device. At best it would do nothing and at worse you'd fry the poor warden's brain. I should do the procedure, so unless you plan on blindfolding me, you might as well tell me the name of the person in question. [He is sticking with the lie that Howie has the real mindwipe. If he can get the Doctor to let him do the procedure, he can switch the mindwipes and maintain the bluff. Alas, Narvin is a well-known liar and misanthrope, so the Doctor would be justifiably suspicious of his motives.]

I know how to use it, loath as I am to admit it.

I can't, as I know you well enough to know you'd try to use it to your advantage. [Must he? Yes, he must.] What was done to this person's mind was unthinkable. Far worse than any ventures you may have attempted on supposedly weak and impressionable Time Lords, fresh from regeneration. I'm sure Braxiatel would be entertained by your impression of him, if I were to relate the story.
