I will never bank with BofA again for the rest of this life and the next. If I had a dick they could suck it.
So last week I got my usual bank of america bank statement. Nothing out of the ordinary. Except that on the same day I got several other items in the mail from BofA. I received a statement for a checking account and a savings account that I never opened. I also received an atm card and pin code associated with the new checking account. So I spent about an hour at my local banking center on Tuesday. All they could really tell me was that the accounts were opened online on June 30th, but that was about it. They told me they would close the accounts, they gave me confirmation codes to make me feel secure or whatever. And I left, feeling a little unsettled, but reasonably content.
Until yesterday.
I was at the grocery store yesterday. I attempted to check out with my debit card as I usually do. I was informed that my account was invalid. I was forced to pay by credit card and leave, confused. I signed in to my online banking only to find out that my account did not exist. So I spent about two hours at BofA today trying to figure out what the hell happened. Bank of America's "Risk Assessment Team" apparently decided that I was the victim of identity theft and my active account I've had for nine years was at risk. So they closed it...without telling me...and sent me a cashier's check for my balance. The idea was that I should open a new account with them and deposit the balance check in that. I seriously wanted to ask the lady if she was smoking crack. Did they really expect that I would continue banking with them after they closed my account, without notice, and left my balance in limbo for a week. As far as they know, that's all the funding I have. This wouldn't have been such a big deal except for the fact that I mailed my rent check two days ago. Do you have any idea how embarassing it is to have to call your landlord and tell him your rent check, which he already deposited, is going to bounce? EXTREMELY!.
Anyway. I'm done with BofA. I left their banking center and went immediately to Washington Mutual and opened a new account. I was pretty amused by the girl who helped me. I walked in and told her "I need to open a new account. I have just had an absolute nightmare with bank of america." Totally straight-faced, she replied "yeah, most people do." I couldn't help but laugh.
In other news...I'm feeling very positive about my interview with Bio-Rad last week and I hope I will be called back for a second interview.
