Let this be a lesson to self.
No more buying apples that aren't Granny Smith, Braeburn, or in-season local Macintoshes.
EVER.
Ever ever ever.
I bought Empire apples because they looked nice. But they are smooshy grossness inside.
I fucking HATE HATE HATE apples that aren't crispy.
I'm really angry at these apples right now. On the NY Apple Country Empire Apple website, they say that the Empire is
* A wonderful blend of sweet and tart
* Juicy
* Very crisp, creamy white flesh
... DISAGREE.
They also boast that "Kids love Empire's sweet-tart taste and super crunchy texture."
Before I even get to these so-called kids' bad taste in apples, I'd first like to know where this amazing "super crunchy texture" is. Where did it go? I love super crunch. There is no super crunch in this apple (which is now in the garbage).
If I wanted to eat apple sauce encased in wax paper, I would.
URGH.
I'm extremely disappointed.
I wish my Granny Smith was here for comfort.
