You guys think you have good work stories
Yesterday when i was closing at publix, I was hanging the mop up in the mop room. When i swung it over my shoulder, I felt it get caught on something. I look up and I see that it's stuck on those sprinklers attached to the roof.
I'm just like ohhh shit.
I'm trying to break it free, but the sprinkler just moves back and forth and I'm thinking "Crap, if I break this, the store is gonna be flooded and I'll probably lose my job"
So, I tried to find the tallest stocker to get it down, but he couldnt reach it. We went to the manager (who was Roseanne at the time), told her the situation, which caused her to drop her cigarette and say "omg, do u have any idea what will happen if you break that?"
I was about to say, "You may want to pick that back up and start smoking it some more to relieve the stress," but I figured it wasn't good to joke in that situation.
So, we searched around for some scissors, which took forever. During that time im freaking out bc the mop is hanging on the sprinkler and no one is watching it and it can just break off at any moment. After a little while, we finally got the scissors and cut it down. Nothing happened, but it's still not the way you want to end your shift.
