I got my PSIA level 1 certification for instructing cross country skiing this weekend!
It turned into a lot more work than I expected because the only clinic nearby this year was for skate skiing. So, for my fourth and fifth day on skate skis, I was trying to keep up with some really good skiers. Even though I lagged on every hill, it was really fun skiing with a group that enjoyed romping up the hills just to careen back down them. The other participants proclaimed me most improved skier for the weekend. By the end, I think I was up to the skating level of the next two weakest of the group. So, again I am left with the question, of do I get some skate gear and practice this new skill, or do I let it drop since it isn't really my thing. There were several times towards the end of the day where I was really wishing for some nice classic kick and glide.
