Jason Mraz: "A Beautiful Mess"

Andy was exhausted. A week of ripping and running has put her in an awful mood. All she wants to do is get home and pull the duvet over her head and sleep.  It's after one in the afternoon when they finally touch down in New York.  Before exiting the jet Andy calls her driver to make sure he's waiting. "Shit!" she can see a group of photographers and reporters standing outside.  She looked over at Serena and sighed "They must know.  Just try to ignore them."

"Okay" Serena turned and grabbed Gus' hand. "Come on Dalito and Drew"

Gus laughed at the nickname.  "Don't worry about these piranhas, Serena.  They want to be us."

Andrew grabbed Andy's hand.  He could see she was nervous.  "You know we could always go back to Spain. I don't mind missing school." He joked.

"Darling I wish we could, but your mother misses you too much already. I am sorry you guys have to deal with this, but in life we must accept who we are." She gave them all a reassuring smile "Shall we" walking down the step to exit the plane. They were immediately surrounded by people shouting obscene questions. She did the best she could to maneuver her way through the paparazzi, while shielding her children from the flashes.  "Just keep moving...ignore them."  The car was at least 50 yards off.

"Andrea! Andrea! How long have you been sleeping together?" a greasy man shouted.

"Andrea who is this woman?" Andy looked over at Serena who was holding her head high.  Dressed in a pair of Armani Exchange jeans and a Donna Karan top, the lengthy Brazilian held an air of superiority.  A true Amazon.

"What's it like fucking Andrea Priestly?" her steps immediately halted and she gazed at the young man who looked no older than twenty.

Clearing her throat, "What ...What did you ask me?"

He replied in a cocky tone, "You heard me. What's it like fucking Andrea Priestly?"

She glared at him through her Chanel shades "I would tell you, but I doubt even Hemingway could give it justice." She then continued towards the car trying to maintain her composure. She didn't mean to react, but their utter disrespect of Andy in front of her children was really pissing her off.

"How did Miranda react to the news? Did you trade in the Buick for a newer and nicer Porsche?"

The bold insinuation was the final straw. Andy turned towards Serena "Take them to the car. I will follow you shortly." Serena nodded and did as she was told.  Then Andy directed her attention to the little wiesel who had the audacity to say such a thing " That is the mother of my children you are referring to." her jaws clinched in angered. She wasn't going to give them the satisfaction of seeing her explode from such a comment.  "It is my children, all of them not solely Andrew and Augustus, whom I love more than anything this world has to offer. I ask you, for their sake, not to ever speak to me that way in front of them." he bowed his head in shame and she continued "Spain was lovely. Thanks for asking." then she turned on her heels and headed to the car.

Slamming the door behind, Andy muttered "Fuck" she ran her hand through her hair in frustration. "Mark, drop Serena off first."  They rode the entire way in silence.  Andy barely acknowledge Serena's departure other than to say "I'll call you."  In truth, Andy was dreading dropping the boys off at the townhouse.  It must have been God's mercy that sparred her a confrontation with Miranda. Apparently there was some kind of emergency and she had to go to Runway.  Andy was grateful for the small blessing.

'Boom Boom'' Andy was pissed. She hated being woken it.  They returned two days prior and she's still suffering from jet lag. 'Boom Boom' She glanced at the clock sitting next to her bed. "It's fucking 3:30. Serena must be out of her damn mind." Andy grabbed her robe and went to open the door. 'Boom Boom'' "Serena, I gave you a key so you-" Andy was shocked. "Mir" she went from utter disbelief to full blown anger in a split second. "What fuck are you doing here? How the hell did you even get up here?" Andy was going to kill Joe.

Removing her D&G sunglasses, "Are we going to have this discussion in the hallway or are you going to invite me in?  Have you already lost your manners, since rolling around in the gutter." Miranda pursed her lips.

She took a deep breath in a weak attempt to stop from lashing out "I am not even dressed. Whatever it is you want to talk about will have to wait until a decent hour."

Miranda looked at Andy's scantily clad body then pushed passed Andy.  She strolled inside wearing an outfit that reminded Andy of 'Carmen Sandiego' "Please it's nothing I haven't seen before, Andrea."

Locking the door behind her "It's a moot point considering the current status of our relationship."

Miranda rolled her eyes and sighed "Details."

Andrea was thirsty. Walking to the kitchen to get a glass of water she asked, "What is it that you want?"

"Don't be obtuse, Andrea. As talented as you are, acting oblivious has never been your strong suit."

Leaning against the counter, while chugging her water "So...you think I am talented."

"I have never denied your artistic accomplishments."

Sitting the glass down "No, you just never acknowledged them."

"I am not here to discuss your insecurities." taking a moment to pause "I would appreciate if my personal life didn't conflict with my professional one. Runway-"

"Oh please! You were my boss when we started fucking." Andy interrupted.

"Must you make such crude remarks. It's really beneath you, Andrea."

"I don't need you to lecture me on good manners."

Pressing Andrea into the counter, "This little thing  you have a long term member of my staff, might I add, is unacceptable." Andy noticed a hint of humor in Miranda's eyes at the use of the nondescript term.

The close proximity unnerved Andy. Although she enjoyed her time with Serena, she didn't exactly climax.  Seeing Miranda dressed liked this made her palms sweat. She always thought Carmen was Sandiego was sexy for a cartoon character.  "You don't get to come in here and dictate my life."

Removing her hat and coat and placing them on the nearby bar stool "How long?"

"What?" Andy hated ambiguous questions.

"How long have you been seeing her?"

This is so surreal. She couldn't believe she was in her kitchen at 3:30 in the morning, practically naked, discussing her latest conquest with her ex-wife of all people. "It has only recently evolved into something more than friendship."

Miranda's head snapped and the deepest shade of blue pierced through Andy. Closing the space between them she pulled at the tie holding Andy's robe together "You know me better than anyone, Andy." the use of her nickname made her melt. "And as you're fully aware I can be very unforgiving." She let the robe fall to the floor.

"We can't." At 48 years of age, Miranda was surprisingly strong. She lifted Andy on top of the counter. "Serena..."

"Don't speak her name in my presence," she hissed.

Andy felt confused and helpless.  "This isn't right. You're with Michael." Although she and Serena had yet to broach the subject of exclusiveness, she couldn't help but feel terrible about what was happening.  She felt even worse about her reluctance to stop Miranda's advances.

"Oh no" she placed soft kisses along Andy's collarbone. "Are you sure?" sliding her hand in between Andy's legs "Your body responds instinctively to my touch, always has."  She ran a finger through her wetness. "Has she made you cum?" Andy didn't respond. Miranda smirked. "I can provide a remedy for your affliction."

Andy's breath caught. "Don't... do this... to me."

"After reading that article, all I could think of about is her hands all over you." she spreads Andy's legs further apart. "Page Six, Andrea!"  'I still want you, always have' she thought.  Miranda harshly kissed Andy.  Pulling her bottom lip into her mouth as she bit down and gently sucked. The sensation shot straight to Andy's pussy bringing her closer to the edge.  Miranda slipped two fingers inside her.

"Ahhh" her hips bucked against a fully clothed Miranda "Fuck."  'Maybe she really is a serpent'   Her hands clinched at Miranda's shoulders.  Holding Andrea's hips in place she increased her pace. "Ahhhh" dragging her teeth across an erect nipple "I...I''m gonna ..." she was grasping for air.

"So come, Andrea." The sound of Miranda's voice was like silk.  She sucked harder and curled a third finger into Andy's wetness. "You've waited long enough."  It's didn't take much for Andy to climax.   She cried out Miranda's name as she bucked harder.  Andy collapsed against the cabinets as her orgasm washed over her.   She attempted to slow her breathing and speak, but found she was at a loss for words.  Slipping off of the counter, Andy grabbed Miranda's arm and directed her towards the bedroom.

*********

Four hours later Miranda emerged from the bed in search for her clothes.  Andy rolled over "What are you doing?"

Startled at the sound Andy's voice, "I ...I have to leave."

Climbing out of bed and walking over to Miranda. "We need to talk."

Pulling on her blouse. "I must go home." Miranda was clearly frustrated. She had never been a morning person.  " I have to be at Runway in two hours."

"We are going to discuss this now." Andy was afraid if she allowed her to leave she would never have another opportunity.  Passing Miranda on her way to the kitchen. "Would you like some coffee. It's not your usual Starbucks, but it's good. I brought it back from Spain."

"Yes."  Miranda followed Andrea into the kitchen. Stepping into her Jimmy Choos and taking a neat on the bar stool she continued "Please move at a glacial pace. You know how that thrills me."

Andy slipped on her robe and grabbed two mugs from the cabinet. "We had sex."

"Stating the obvious are we."

'Oh I see. She's going to be difficult.' Pulling a low-fat jug of milk from the fridge "What are we going to do about it?"

"I think we have done enough.  Don't you?"

Andy handed Miranda her coffee. "I am seeing Ser-" her head snapped up. "someone. And I don't make a habit of having multiple partners."

Miranda snorted. "Since when?"

Andy was quickly loosing her patience with Miranda. "With Nate it was different.   And  I am not going to continue defending myself against such outlandish innuendo." she was exasperated. "I, Andy love you, Miranda, but I can't continue to put my life on hold."

Looking up from her coffee "I never asked you to put your life on hold. I am telling you to end this ridiculous relationship."

"Really. Yet you practically mauled me at 3:30 in the morning."

"Mauled?" raising an eyebrow " Please spare me the condescending tone. Your slight protest was about as convincing as Barack Obama's plan for healthcare reform."

Andy took a sip of her coffee "I am not going to belabor the details of our most recent trist." she paused. "This is the moment, Miranda. You need to be honest with yourself and me. What do you want?"

"I hope you didn't get the wrong impression.  I have stated quite clearly what it is that I desire."

Andy finished off her coffee. "We are no longer together" placing the mug in the dishwasher "You can't dictate my life.  I may date whoever I please." Andy could no longer hold back her tears.  Wiping her eyes "You have to get to work, and I feel like shit.  Let yourself out." Andy turned to exit the kitchen.

"Andrea don't walk away from me. We are not finished."

Andy halted halted in her steps, "That's just it, Miranda." she was breaking her heart all over again. "We have been finished for a while. It's been over two years since we were last intimate.  I feel like a fucking idiot. " laughing bitterly "This" she gestured between them "is a beautiful mess.  I'm done."

Miranda picked up her hat and coat "You're emotional." she walked to the door "I suggest you regain your composure and reconsider your decision." looking back into somber eyes "Bye, Andrea."

"I will come by on Friday to pick up the kids." Miranda acknowledged her statement with a nod and left.

Andy climbed into her bed and pulled the duvet over her head.  There were a ton of questions rushing through her head.  Just a couple of hours ago she was having passionate sex with her ex-wife. ' 'Why didn't I stop it?'' She was finally making some progress with Serena, and a single visit from Miranda left her questioning everything.  Only one thing was certain, she wasn't going to stop seeing Serena simply because was jealous.
