They Don't Make Hallmark Cards for Situations Like This

I recently found out that the son of a friend/acquaintance of mine has been accused of molesting a small child. He is also a child - maybe 12 or 13, but *much* older than the girl he supposedly touched, so it's not a puppy love got outta hand kinda thing. The child is fine, and doesn't really understand that anything bad happened. I suggested counseling to the parents, because even if she's not traumatized by it, it will confuse her down the road about boundaries and her body.

What a horrible thing to have to go through for both families. I don't know him at all, so I have no idea if he's guilty or innocent, but living in a small conservative southern town, it doesn't matter. He'll be condemned by the accusation alone.

I don't know what to say, and they don't make Hallmark cards for situations like this.
