What kind of cake?
My birthday is this Sunday! I'm having a "bacchanal" on Saturday night with Greek & Mediterranean food, and I'm trying to decide what kind of cake to make.
Epicurious.com has some awesome-looking recipes:
- classic 2-layer chocolate
- coconut-peach
- lemon-pistacchio
- white chocolate apricot
- strawberry & cream w/ cardamom syrup
- chiffon w/ almond cream cheese frosting & mixed berries
Oh heck. Why not make up my own flavor combination? I think a dark chocolate mocha cake would be delicious with orange-cardamom-vanilla buttercream frosting, with candied orange peel and apricots, and dusted with toasty ground pistacchio. Mmmm-mmmm. Served with a sparkling white wine.
