Update!

I just got my official orders today! There's a bunch of mumbo-jumbo that I don't understand at all, but I do know my report date isn't until July 7th! What I don't know is if I'm really going to take 2 months of leave, and what I'm going to do during whatever leave I do take. Thanks for the fancy narration. I might have to try that southern style chicken sandwich. So the two years, is that two years from July? Or two years from whenever you were supposed to be through? What are you gonna do with your $90k? I could maybe spare a day of vacation in June, but not really any more, if the awesome thing could take place over a long weekend.

As for the narration... I was half-drunk and it seemed like a good idea at the time. And it was kind of fun, I don't write over-detailed, slightly embellished, descriptions of everyday events very often.

As for Reenlisting, the way it technically works is they add 6 years from the day you reenlist (in my case) so it will probably be sometime in July/August 2014 that I'm actually obligated through. So I guess strictly speaking I'll be in the Navy another year longer than I need to be, but I'm hoping to offset that by being in a tax-free zone when I sign the paper. I'm not sure what their plan for me is, but at some point they are going to send me on another submarine to qualify, so hopefully that will be soon, and we'll go to a tax-free area. I'll probably spend 10% or so, put another 15% in savings I can access, and the rest in my retirement fund.

And we'll see what sort of awesome we can get into on a 3-day weekend in June, I'm down.
