personality- At first glance Davy appears to be a quite stereotypically evil person. He is quite sadistic, and does not hesitate to inflict pain upon others. He has little to no morals and will not hesitate to do whatever it takes to benefit himself. He believes in others giving proof of promises, such as when he keeps Will Turner as a "good faith payment" for Jack Sparrow's debt, but never will do this himself, instead being reckless, prideful (pride is something he has a lot of), and cruel.
Davy also is an extreme control freak. When Cutler Beckett gains control of Davy's heart and thus control of the captain of the Flying Dutchman himself, Davy first attempts to completely ignore Beckett's demands, for "the Dutchman sails as its captain commands." If he does not get his way, in fact, Davy can resort to being almost childish and demanding ("The Brethren Court intends to release [Calypso]." "... No! They cannot!").
However Davy does have a hidden conscience and a soft side. It hardly ever arises publicly, but does seep out in little moments in private. Davy has cried before over the music played by his locket, and often in fact takes out his anger or sadness by playing on the pipe organ on the Dutchman. This is proof that while he may appear strong on the outside, on the inside he is still deeply tormented by Calypso's betrayal when she did not show up after Davy's ten long years of service ferrying dead souls to the other side.
His final weakness appears to be love. Most would say that women are his soft side but this is not true - he does not fall head over heels for every girl he sees, and in fact when Elizabeth Swann confronts him he says that she should expect no mercy from him based on her gender. On the other hand, when Jack Sparrow mentions that Will Turner is in love, Davy's mood softens considerably.
facts- 1. Part of being captain of the Flying Dutchman was that he would not be able to step on land except for once every 10 years. This has been taken away while in Cretan. 2. The chest that Davy's heart is locked inside cannot be hidden while in Cretan. It always will reappear at the foot of his bed each morning. He's given up on hiding it. 3. He used to be able to teleport and walk through objects during nighttime. He can no longer do this. 4. Other than that, the curse placed upon him by Calypso for abandoning his ferrying-dead-souls duty seems to be entirely intact. He has not regained his human looks at all.
sample action post- [There is a 'thud' and the sound of something clattering to the ground.]
Gah.
[He stands up... pauses...] This... is land. [... and squints his eyes, focusing on the two objects on the ground in front of him.] How...?
... best not to question it. [He chuckles darkly, kneeling down to pick up the first object on the ground - a key.] What's this? Some sort of dust? [He decides to ignore the dust all over the key, and upon picking it up realizes that it was concealing another object.]
"Use this well". [Squinting his eyes...] Calypso... is this a doing of yours...? But you... [He conceals the stick of whatever-it-is and the key, hiding them somewhere inside his beard of tentacles, before picking up the final object: a locked chest.]
Hahaha... may as well find a way to amuse myself around here. [He gets to his feet with some difficulty before looking around.] Wherever "here" is.
