Yesterday I had my semi-annual MRI for the M.S. Combi study I'm participating in. I had a different radiologist than last time. She said from now on only one machine will be used for study participant MRIs and she will usually be the radiologist doing them. That way the images will be as consistent as possible. I could see why she was the chosen radiologist when she lined me up and packed me in. The previous times had been "Lay down, move up a little, here are a couple of blocks to imobolize your head, okay into the machine." She was much fussier. She had me shift my shoulders a couple of times. She lined up my eyes then really packed the blocks around my head. Then fiddled with my head some more so it was just right. I think I could have moved my head if I'd really wanted to but there was no way my head would shift accidently. She said my images came out beautifully, which means they were nice and clear not that I have a pretty brain. She was pleasant to work with and it will be nice to see the same person each time.
Tomorrow I get to go have my quarterly combi study evaluation. I'll have my reflexes tested, push-pull tests on limb muscle groups, balance evaluation both standing and walking, etc. And the fun memory test adding the current number to the previous number and saying the answer out loud and keeping track of it in your head. It should all go fine.
Edit: All of my radiologists/techs have been polite and kind, never brusque. They all understand that they are about to put you in a small noisy place and want you to be as comfortable as possible. My previous MRI set ups went fairly quickly. This lady spent time adjusting my shoulders and tweeking the tilt of my head. So not only was my head in the right place but my eyes and nose were pointing in exactly the right spot. The other radiologists were not as particular.
